The benefit of the Icecrown rares system!

I see a lot of people are complaining about the 20 minutes between spawns. Whatever. Utilize your time better.

One thing I HAVEN’T seen anyone talk about is how this system allows you to collect loot from these rares more than once per day, which IMO is a pretty nice trade off.

Imo it’s trash and this whole event is trash.

I’m giving them benefit of the doubt in that

A.) coordinating all these groups through a pandemic can’t be a simple task and

B.) I would hope that the delay in Shadowlands didn’t waste dev time trying to fix a prepatch that will be gone in 2 weeks anyway.

Sometimes you gotta look on the bright side.

The fact they can’t be killed for a minute or so after spawning is the only good feature

I am fine with it, it gives me time to do stuff between them and I know when they will be up so I can always head to the next active one.

So if you play for 7 hours a day sitting in icecrown you can get loot from the same mob twice… I wouldn’t count that as a win.

A more positive way to look at it; if you are farming a specific item (e.g. a bag), you have up to 3 chances per day to get it instead of 1.

I feel like the ones that are complaining about this, are the same people that threw fits when they didn’t get what they wanted for birthdays/christmans etc regardless of how much thought was put into it. Ungrateful, spoiled etc comes to mind.

While it may not be ideal, it’s better than nothing, and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to participate.

Well when i have about 2 to 3 hours to play a night or every other night and with the current times of 20 min it sucks actually

It is nice, as long as you can play 7 hours a day or can schedule and be able to log in for specific ones. I think most folks will get one shot a day. (Which is fine I suppose, but let’s not act like it’s going to be realistic to get 4 tries a day in on that piece you’ve been after. )

Once per cycle.

I have work and sleep so I can’t be on 24/7 (except for 2 days a week and I don’t like dying so that’s out).

It’s effectively once a day.

What have you sacrificed?

You could literally ask someone camping when was the last time it spawned and if it was 2 minutes ago you know you can do other things for the next 17 minutes.

Lots of things. My childhood, my innocence, my soul…

But none of that was game related.

My (sorry excuse for a) life is mine BLIZZ CAN’T HAVE IT!

WoWhead also has timers on the rare spawns on their main page

Once I finish filling out my gear slots with the catch up gear I probably wont be going back to Icecrown.

I don’t want to sit around in the game, staring at a screen waiting for a spawn. The alternative it to kill trash for nothing much while waiting for a spawn.

It’s like a 20 minute load screen that you sit around waiting to complete so you can actually play.

Which is

Not everyone is on the same schedule. People have days off. They’re not asking you to schedule your entire life around it, but this way makes it easier to know when they will spawn and much easier to know when you CAN kill them.

I prefer this over camping for hours for a specific rare.

Would utilize my time better , but 20mins is not enough to go do much in game …

I don’t play wow to go and afk for 20mins after each kill either …

So suggestion on how to utilize my time better ? It’s only 20minutes , can’t go do xmog run , can’t do a m+ , can’t do raid or lfr , could maybe get away with a BG or arena while waiting … but what else ?
