I really love wow. I love how you can send emotes to others. How you can help friends, guildies. I love how you can hang around in low level maps. I like how there is a ton of things to do, like leveling secondary professions, chasing achievements, embracing World PvP. Doing WQ for fun, reputation for fun. You know, that basic feeling of “freedom”.
When you complete your duties and are free to do whatever you want without any kind of “chore” pending.
I really like WoW scheduled Events too. Or leveling alts.
But the grind and timegate simply won’t let me do any of these.
And you will tell me “you can do all these things. No one is compelling you to do otherwise”. Not really. It was a developer choice to timegate content and to develop grinding systems. And they didn’t drag me down into this. They dragged all my friends. My entire guild. To the point that everybody simply had to adapt. It is like adulthood. I didn’t become solely a responsible person with no time to spend around. That solely wouldn’t be a problem. The entire change of enviroment happens because all of your friends also became adults. Everybody were dragged into this together unarmed. Can’t fight back.
Adapt or quit, because all of your friends for sure will be adapting, because they fear all their friends will be adapting too, and they can’t get behind.
Long gone are the days that you could hit a grind wall and settle down to do fun, irresponsible things to help others, or just mess around.
Be grinding, be playing without fun. Play alone to accomplish that grind. Don’t help others. Get burnout fast.
Big F.
