The background during Star Augur in Nighthold... WTF?!?!?

I never noticed the background during Star Augur till today. In the background a planet is trapped in the tentacle embrace of a HUGE Old God. What was the story behind this?

Is the fate of a planet that isn’t purged by the burning legion or titans.

A planet where the old gods won, corrupting everything.

Star Augur had the best job in the Warcraft universe. Nobody else gets to see the universe the way he does. Shame it drove him a little batty.

Is there any lore about this planet? Like does it have a corrupted Titan soul? Or was that background art purely for illustration purposes to express what a Old God/Void world looks like?

it had no titan soul, but it was corrupted completely by the old gods, the void basically flung a ton of old gods to many planets in hopes of one of them corrupting a titan world. the one corrupted had none

Probably the latter.

It’s never named or directly referenced, and it’s preceded by a broken, fel-corrupted planet in the prior phase, so they’re probably meant to represent the eventual fates of all worlds if the Legion or the Old Gods succeed.

no,we don’t know what planet was that.

is not the only planet void corrupted, there are many more, probably thousands that we don’t know.

in fact, i think that you can see some of them if you go to the vindicar in the lightforged intro scenario and you will see some void corrupted planets.

There is one on the “sky” of Telogrus rift.

Thanks for the responses!

Starthanos Augurcaller is just warning us about the impending Void takeover. See for yourself the cruel, frozen void that lies beyond the margin of Azeroth’s skies!

Witness what I have seen, and

TREMBLE!

I’m pretty sure it’s Azeroth… I can’t really remember what he says during that fight but im pretty sure it’s something about fate. Don’t quote me on that though. During frost phase it’s covered in frost… fel phase is covered by fel and void phase it’s covered by the void.
