That’s the part I am just not buying into…
At the end of the day do you want 1.12 or a frankenpatch?
why would they lie?
frankenpatch
It’s the only way you can actually garner a truly authentic experience with out true patch progression.
Mogar:But database data and art assets only back to 1.12.
That’s the part I am just not buying into…
Well, I mean, they said they found that on a backup of a backup. I wouldn’t say they’re lying. But Classic is just trying to make that old data and art work with the modern code. That’s basically what they’re doing.
Now to bring this back on topic…it might take some work to make an older version of AV. But I think it’s worth that effort.

So by creating something that never existed during vanilla is the only way to recreate vanilla…
Or maybe blizzard just goes with the whole it’s a museum and we get 1.12 as is.
I agree it’s worth the work, but I still call BS on the lack of the patch data, there is no way they misplaced or lost that.
Call up James Chadwick to bring back his old AV. He still at Blizzard?
So by creating something that never existed during vanilla is the only way to recreate vanilla
In reality, that’s the only way if you want the experience to actually feel authentic.
going with 1.12 is just flat out not authentic in reality because all the raids, dungeons and world NPC’s that were out before Naxx did not play in that way before 1.11. The entire game plays differently as a result, all for a period of game play that lasted a few months.
I would much rather have the primary bulk of the content play as it was intended and tuned for, than have just authentic Naxxramas… I think it was Xan and Harland that said they would rather sacrifice Naxxramas on the alter for the sake of the rest of the content.
I also feel this way too, because it’s all the rest of the game that most people are going to play, and that’s important if we want this game to truly be that successful.
IMO the original incarnations of AV before it became a Zerg-rush is also a part of that real Vanilla experience.
Warts and all.
Exactly this. If you start changing the data. You’re going to end up with Frankenstein’s monster. So you change AV. Then what? Are we going to try and dig up 1.3 talent data?
What if they want to make each class the most optimal it could be? What if we take row one of the Arms Warrior Talent Tree from 1.2 and match that with row two from patch 1.5? You can keep making up scenarios to improve the game.
Nobody asked them to use 1.12, and many are angry about them using such a late patch.
“Frankenstein” my butt. AV is one of, if not the, biggest thing about Vanilla we’ve been talking about for years
This is like opening up a WotLK server without DKs.
Give me his number, I am not afraid. Hell I would help the guy re-build it free of charge (on the week ends from home)
Email me the software bro.

But either we get 1.12 or we get a frankenpatch.
So you would like 1.5 AV with say 3.0 class balance?
Franken Patch is fine, but it’s gotta stay true to Vanilla “Stuff”, because soon as you deviate outside The Vanilla you’re ruined.
To clear this up; as long as it’s inside the 1.whatever timeline then its fine…
But if its BETA or 2.whatever then its verboten.

How is a frankenpatch not a beta?

I have no problems with changing to be temporary and then be how it was with each raid release.
The words BETA and 2.whatever appear as a frame of reference so you can understand the boundaries of content and components of a frankenpatch.
Franken Patch =/= Franken WoW, these are two very different things.
Franken Patch = 1.1.0 to 1.12.2
Franken Patch = 2.0.1 to 2.4.3
Franken WoW = 1.1.0 to 3.3.5
Comprehend?

Vanilla as is mean anything to you?
I’m all for a frankenpatch, you want 1.5 av great how bout we trade that for wrath class balance? Or we could just go for 1.12.
1.5 AV was in Vanilla. Wrath class balance wasn’t. It’s really not complicated.
I’m all for a frankenpatch
Franken patch = major time period.
Franken WoW = cross era WoW.
They’re two different things.

Either way it creates something that never existed in vanilla.
