Given that Azshara is still out there, up to no good, I wanted to reaffirm my support for playable Ankoan and Jinyu.
To be honest, I feel like Ankoan have a bit more of interest to me since they would be perfect to pair with Horde Kelfin and the storyline potential when we do eventually deal with Azshara again sometime.
Something to consider is that since weāre getting a third Dwarf race and have multiples of other races, I donāt see why we couldnāt get Jinyu as well. Especially if both the Jinyu and Ankoan become full races as opposed to one being a Customization Race. So hopefully neither of them get forgotten or the short end of the stick should one of them become playable.
I canāt wait to see the Jinyu or Ankoan (or both) added to the game.
Theyād really flesh out the Alliance races I think hoenstly. Theyāre among my top three Alliance races that I want to see added to the game. (Though there are more than three races for the Alliance I want to see.)
Agreed 100%. I really want to play a monk or shaman of this race. I think theyāre quite majestic and the roleplay opportunities would be fun. Please Blizz.
Imagine those guys wandering round Stormwind and working alongside the Alliance regularly. Theyād fit in so well and be so different at the same time. Jinyu/Ankoan should have been an AR so much earlier.
The next Exploring Azeroth book was recently announced as Exploring Azeroth: Islands and Isles, starring Thalyssra and Lorāthemar while exploring Broken Isles, Kul Tiras, Zandalar, and the Dragon Isles:
While not an Island or Isle, it is possible that Nazjatar could get revisited. Granted, it has since submerged and is underwater again to my knowledge.
With regards to the Ankoan, I donāt know if theyāll appear or even be mentioned. Both of the characters leading the narrative in this book are Horde, and I know the Ankoan are fairly reclusive. Moreso when this is a faction they helped to fight against during BfA. So itās up in the air if they would have any presence in the book, let alone if Nazjatar will have any significance or if itāll even be visited, and if anything, I imagine the Unshackled would be around to help with that if there was a journey to see it again, so who knows what would be done with the Ankoan in this book?
The book is tentatively scheduled to come out Oct. 1st, 2024. Whenever I get it, Iāll be sure to help report any info of interest. Not that I expect much in the way of Ankoan to be honest.
And regardless of what is or isnāt said, I still hope weāll see the Unshackled and Ankoan again someday. Preferably on that character creation screen of course!
So would I, do you think Blizzard would give us both options in one sigle race somehow? Cause personally, I would prefer Jinyu over Ankoan, but I know some other people would rather play the latter. Iām not sure how they would approach this.
Maybe they can have Ankoan skins for Jinyu as a subrace? Thatād be nice.
I feel like theyād give us both at the same time. Hard to tell though, its Blizzard, they do odd things sometimes.
Iād personally prefer the Jinyu over the Ankoan but I donāt have any actual issues with the Ankoan. I just like Jinyu a bit better. (Theyāre also technically for sure in the Alliance already while the Ankoan are a bit more of a wibbly area.)
Hopefully when they add them theyāll have them both come together and maybe even have slightly different racials? That would be cool. Maybe a story where the two groups come together as a single group and join the Alliance more formally?

I really like the possibilities of them though. The Alliance Navy with fish folk to help them out would be almost as beneficial as the Kulātirans themselves. Imagine Jinyu and Ankoan marines?
Plus the race feels really good when you see em among other Alliance races. I really hope to see em one day. (and the furbolg.)
As you might know, Plunderstorm has some neat rewards. One of which is this seahorse mount:
It got me to imagine Ankoan utilizing seahorses as war mounts against the Naga. Sort of like the Idoneth Deepkin from Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
I donāt think Iāve talked about that army in here, come to think of it. Iāll have to do that in the future to inspire some mount ideas and such for the Ankoan and maybe the Jinyu.
Anyway, the issue with this idea is that a lot of mount ideas for the Ankoan would be underwater specific mounts. Of course, there could be a water bubble that surrounds the mount as a user rides it, making it a flying mount that could also function as an underwater mount. A few of those types of mounts, where they have flying capabilities and increased swimming speed, do exist in-game already, so there would be ways to make it not entirely broken in a way.
Itās something Iāll be thinking on and sharing here and in the Kelfin megathread when I can.
As its the beginning of the month I thought Iād remind folk to submit their suggestions to see the Ankoan and Jinyu added to the Alliance!
