“Midnight will offer a new delve companion that isn’t Brann”

The catalyst for this decision was the notion that it would feel bad to lose the power and perks you’ve acquired for Brann already at the start of Season 2.

Well there we go, this wasnt some faction bias thing and just not wanting players to lose the feeling of progression.

Also:

I love it when we have irrevocable proof that Dread is wrong. Delves are popular and are clearly here for the long haul.

Are they though? Even though blizz had to do significant nerfs after launch to make them solo friendly?

Where’s the proof they’re popular

They are popular enough they will at least be a part of the next expansion. I dont feel like looking for stats but clearly Delves are something a good chunk of player do if nothing less then because of the reward.

Now with the potential changes to reward that might drop.

People did warfronts for the good rewards too and they weren’t popular.

If you’re going to make a claim that delves are popular, you’re going to have to back that claim up. Especially when calling someone else wrong.

That would be cool. I remember the Killer Instinct reboot consulted Nez Perce members about designing a skin for Chief Thunder based on their customs and way of dress, and it turned out really sick.

Has Blizzard ever actually been criticized by any First Peoples groups about this before? A lot of time we like to assume a group of people would be offended if something in fiction is inspired by their culture, when in reality they likely don’t even care, or think its really cool.

We’re talking about Tauren, not Taunka. I’m a cow, thank you very much.

And yeah, why not ask them for their opinion on it?

Hazzikostas said Blizzard is “happy with this as a starting point,” and that it will expand on them as the expansion continues.

They had a survey specifically about selves asking why players weren’t doing them, lmao.

One of the repeated questions was “Should we replace brann?”

And clearly a reason why people might stop doing it is if Brann is replace/they have to redo the grind.

They could replace brann without a new grind.
What is it with you and black and white fallacies

For season 2, blizz should’ve put out a poll to see who our new delve companion would’ve been. With the bonus that you get to keep any curios you found and upgraded from season 1.

I guess that’s asking for too much from blizz though

From what I’ve seen, it’s about the Tauren being portrayed disrespectully, which they are, not the fact that they’re portrayed at all.

According to who?

Two indigenous WoW players talking about their issues right here.

And on this very forum in threads like this.

Either we get a new character that fuction does everything Brann does and is effectively just a reskin(which begs the question of what the point would be of that?) or we keep progressing Brann the way he is.

Look, once Midnight arrive we will have a new like Horde companion that we will all end for the rest of the expansion.

I could’ve sworn I had seen Baal speaking positively about Tauren in the past. Or is that just in response to the more recent WoW trend of baking all the flavor out of the cultures and people?

Either way, this strikes me more as the representation isn’t accurate vs. the representation is actively disrespectful. Even if we look at Scandinavian myth in this game, they’re a bunch of tallbeards with exaggerated Swedish accents who were statues built by robots they now worship who were built by FantasyCelestials.

If there are things that are specifically insensitive, taboo, or the like, working to address it would be ideal. I wouldn’t mind seeing a lot more cultural variety within any of the given races. Like, Dragonmaw are different than Warsong, Grimtotem are different than Runetotem, etc.

The point would be letting Horde players quest with representatives of their own faction, something that has not been done often enough in the last few expansions.

You should check out the Taliesin interview. He asked about different Delve companion.

The short was they originally thought of the Delve companion as being different each season. But, when they started looking at it they felt there was not a real good way to do it. If you had to regrind the new companion they it was kind of like a bad borrowed power issue where Delves suddenly got harder. If you don’t regrind they felt like it was kind of pointless to switch.

To be fair, I can see their point. Changing every season seems like a good idea on paper. But when you really look at it, I don’t think it would feel good mid expac.

Probably the only good way to have multiple companions in a single expac is to give people access to them all from the start. That way they can choose which one to level, and can level multiple if they want.

Or they could all just share the same experience bar, etc.

Edit: after some consideration,

Blizzard: wow people really enjoy heritage armor and getting to take part in their race and faction.
Also blizzard: ONLY ALLIANCE JUST THE ALLIANCE RICK AND THE ALLIANCE FOR ALL OF TIME MORTY JUST THE ALLIANCE

Don’t fret. I’m sure Lilian Voss will show up to tell us how she is BFFs with Umbric, Jaina, and Moira now and tell us how amazing they all are.
