The Horde was in the Hotspot in BFA and Shadowlands . DF was Aspects related. In Midnight Silvermoon will Rise and Shine again.
Why do you think it was wasted?
We have three modern zones with horde quests and lots of worldbuilding.
Zul’s intrigue, the cruel blood trolls, and Vol’dun as a land of exile are great themes.
What more could you fairly ask for?
We kinda had that with WoD. I don’t think ogres will come back.
We’re currently fighting against cosmic superpowers.
Ogres could only make up a subzone, like the Nerubians, though. Actually a nice idea.
I am just glad I won’t have to level another new character to 60, to be honest.
What.

Brann is probably still the companion because they decided to not put the effort into another companion. I think everyone was hoping for another companion for variety sake, so thats a general loss.
Besides that, isn’t a goblin patch pretty horde centric by default? Even if most goblin cartels aren’t aligned with any faction, the race is by default more horde than alliance.
I’m pretty sure if they did a whole expansion without a single alliance npc ever appearing, the only heroes being very clearly horde aligned screaming “lok’tar” every other 2 sentences, yall would still find some reason to call it alliance bias somehow, maybe go out sometimes.
::he would gesture to dwarf, iron dwarves, and titans/titancraft + Brann Bronzebeard::
It’s never equal. The Alliance always gets preferential treatment and the Horde is told “Well it’s just not a Horde story.” or, “Well you’re already getting a patch (kind of) based on Horde lore…” (even though we’ve had nothing but expansions of alliance starpower focus.)
Thanks for proving me right.
I didn’t.
I didn’t mention loktar ogar.
I mentioned that you implied it wouldn’t be fair to have a horde companion in a horde patch even though we have an alliance companion (and a metric ton of alliance characters) in an alliance expansion.
I also said that wasn’t fair, and heavily implied you were a hypocrite.
I never said that, in fact, I almost said the opposite, I think it is a shame that Brann is still the delve companion regardless of whoever would be his substitute.
If you think this is an alliance expansion, good for you, if you don’t, good for you as well. I just know for the fact that no matter how much horde content there is or there is not, you will complain.
Blizz can’t touch Tauren, they’re like the most racist race against a real life group of people in the game. American Indians hate the Pan Indian thing. No shade whatsoever I love Tauren, I just understand why Blizz barely acknowledges their culture because it can be crazy touchy in current year.
Rexxar yes, Valeera no. Not unless she’s available to Alliance characters only.
People hated her, really? Why on earth?
Cause we have better things to do other than diving through abandoned mine shafts and fighting off kobalds
God I wish that was true
My guess is they realized from a gameplay standpoint that it’d feel awful to lose Brann after all that grinding. I don’t think he’ll be joining us in Midnight’s delves at least.
“WE’RE TIRED OF WHITE EUROFANTASY”
Designs literally anything else
“BIGOTS! COLONIZERS!”
That’s about par for the course, I suppose.
Two ways to fix this right?
-
Make the delve companion a skin. Same ability concepts, different look.
-
Different companions with different skills that may better compliment your class in a future iteration or just shared XP
Ideally, we could do both. It would be a great way to introduce new characters or bring back others too.
If we just reskin it, just get creative with abilities. Something like hunter > mage is a simple rapid fire for a frost mage’s flurry. Dinosuar for phoenix. Trap for a rune. Some can even be repeat able.
If you need to keep hunters with hunters, instead of a skin from hunter to mage, then create a new, say, tauren hunter character. Want a mage? Introduce Reno Jackson and Tae’thelan* or Remy. Same thing goes for rogues or a druid or and so on.
Biggest complication I see is swapping from a ranged individual to melee. Still nothing that can’t be built out in time. None of these bigger system changes have to happen tomorrow of course.
*Maybe not Tae’thelan. Seems too important to just be running through caves.
I think Delves should have no companion and be balanced truly around solo play.
But thats another can of worms to open right there.
I’ll cut them some slack here, because they wouldn’t know if Delves were going to be well received or largely ignored. My guess is we’ll see it become more relevant and start introducing a roster of characters instead of just Brann. At the very least, the companion might change per expansion.
Oh yeah, Im not stressing about it. There are at least, theoretically, some pretty simple solutions to the “its only Brann” complaint.
Reskinning would be the most effective route, I suppose. Every unique companion is going to introduce more complications. Brann alone has had many issues.
When I pictured the Gob Squad I figured the character portrait would be all of them, and it’d be random which one joined you. Or their abilities called in the others for weird things, like a gobcopter fly by.
