The prevailing viewpoint is that the Alliance has some sort of massive firepower advantage due to the Vindicaar, Mechagnome tech, and powerful characters like Malfurion and Jaina.
But there is a host of forces on the horde side that balance this out. Not least of which is the Zandalari Loa. Unlike the Night Elf wild gods and Elune, Zandalari Loa can and will fight for the Zandalari and the Horde against the Alliance. Especially since the Void Elves did some nasty stuff to the children of some of the loa…
But this is not the only thing the Horde has, the Silvermoon-Suramar Alliance is possibly the strongest magical coalition on Azeroth, and it decisively pushes horde Arcane expertise above that of the Alliance, especially since the Kirin Tor is not a part of the Alliance anymore.
By logical assumption we can gather that the Horde should still have a larger military than the Alliance, because during the Siege of Orgrimmar , it was stated Sylvanas forces were larger than the combined Alliance and Horde rebel forces. Now the former Sylvanas and horde rebel forces have recombined, and should be considerably bigger than the Alliance military.
So to summarize, the Horde has a pantheon of gods who will fight with them, the Alliance does not. The Horde has the masters of magic on their side, while the Alliance no longer has the Kirin Tor. And finally, the Horde still has the larger military. With these three factors we can support the conclusion that the horde still has military superiority over the Alliance.
I’m sorry. I just have a hard time seeing Baine, Lor’thremar, Gazlowe even being able to put a dent in Jaina or Tyrande or Alleria or well… any leader on the Alliance really.
There is a reason any “victory” achieve by the Horde is done with super weapons and a cut-scene. In a brawl, it would be laughable.
And I have a hard time seeing Tyrande, or Alleria, or any alliance leader beat a Loa. Tyrande couldn’t even beat Nathanos. But, were still waiting for Thrall to get his powers back too.
Jaina also dies to a 5 man group in the future…End time dungeon…sooo. But we’ve also killed Old Gods, that doesnt mean they aren’t immensely powerful. Loa are god level beings, for the most part.
Troll lore is admittedly not something I know a lot about, but haven’t we murderhobos killed Hakkar one or two times? I was under the impression the “main cast” of WoW was supposed to be far more powerful than us.
You missed a few points here. It wasn’t Nathanos alone fighting Tyrande, but Tyrande fought SAME: Two Val’kyren, one Val’kyr and Jailer buffed Nathanos and at the same time the army that supported Nathanos and nobody, not even Nathanos could touch her, when it was enough, she litterally destroy with one spell the val’kyr and have no problems at all and Nathanos had to flee you know, flee; no matter how powerful he would have been and he never came back because he knew. .it would be his death sentence.
Besides, killing loa are really not that difficult, see Cenarius, a wild god that even many troll loa are afraid of…so much so that they don’t even dare touch his children, and then came Grom.
that was one assumption of the others, we know the truth is: Sylvanas had nothing left, the army of the Horde is literally crushed and as Lor’Themar said: Depleted.
I think it should be that Nightborne or Bloodelves are equal to Dalaran on their own, but all the races of the Alliance…together, against two Horde nations? Don’t be ridiculous.
The Alliance, by and large, with Darkiron, Highborne, Voidelves, Draenei, Gnomes, Humans, and High Elves, has many strong arcane races, more than the Horde has in absolute numbers.
Gnomes, Dark iron, and Humans simply dont have the Arcane proficiency that Suramar and Silvermoon do combined. Neither do Draenei anymore, they dont focus on Arcane. And Void Elves and high elves and highborne are small in numbers.
humans are the most powerfull arcane race by far on this entire planet(Azeroth), if you are so ridiculously overpowered that you can easily keep up with Nightborne and Blood Elves without focusing on the magic trait, it speaks extremely for their innate talent and arcane affinity.
Jaina is an outlier. And she is dwarfed by say, Azshara’s original powers. Most Human mages are, not very powerful. On average a Nightborne or Blood Elf is more powerful of a mage.
Jaina, Medivh, Antonidas, Rhonin, Aegwynn, Firestorm (Now Forsaken, but then?, he was a human),
And Azshara is an outlier on her own…she was many many many times more powerfull then all other highbornes back then and until today, she´s the definition of an outlier.
Elisande, and Azshara off the top of my head were original highborne who are more powerful than Jaina. Also counting guardians like Medivh and Aegwynn dont count, they used elven knowledge, and borrowed power from other mages to do what they do.
