I’m not debating feelings. I’m debating facts, friend.
Literally every video on that channel is just doomsaying. Some people just can’t enjoy anything in life
I’m enjoying BFA. I’m not enjoying what Blizzard has become as a company.
Facts :
Activision does not control Blizzard
Feelings:
Even though Activision does not control Blizzard, they control Blizzard
You are basing your “facts” on the fact that if Blizzard does anything wrong…its Activision’s fault. Blizzard is apparently incapable of making bad decisions on their own.
Lol what dude? Akston, you need to read a book or something. Better yet, read some articles that have to do with Activision Blizzard cutting off professional Heroes of the Storm players from competing in a tournament that would likely be very financially beneficial to them after promising at BlizzCon that these tournaments would be taking place.
These are facts. No feelings are involved here.
Again, Heroes of The Storm disproves this statement. Their new CFO from Activision whose entire goal is to cut funding everywhere and spend as little as possible. Then, we can see how they cut corners here on BfA.
if activision was givin the boot could Blizz stand on its own going forward
I see.
So a bad game, getting cut. Means that Activision controls Blizzard?
Sometimes you just have to let a failing game go.
To you in your opinion its a bad and failing game.
To others its not. Your opinion is subjective and isn’t fact.
So you’re all for making promises to people about possibly life changing opportunities at a convention full of die hard fans and then going back on your word?
Smooth.
People can enjoy failing games.
But by every metric I could find…HotS failed.
Metrics don’t account for promises made by the company to their community.
The game actually wasn’t failing. The MOBA genra in general is in a a slow decline. When HOTS 2.0 released, the played base boomed to new levels. 2018 was the strongest year HOTS has had in its existence, stated by the developers and proven by the facts. When HOTS was cut, the development team even said this caught them by surprise. So, again, either Activision or the new CFO. One of the two did it.
Someone would have to buy all the shares from Activision and take Blizzard back to being a private company. I don’t think Activision are looking to sell their shares anyway. Activision would probably rather run franchises to the ground getting the cash for min-maxing before they sell it. We can see this is already happening with the Diablo franchise, as it’s been abandoned, for the most part.
EDIT: Before you say this isn’t possible, Overkill bought back their 50% share of the company after the monstrosity that started happening to their pride and joy PayDay franchise with PayDay 2. They bought their shares back after realizing the terrible decision they made.
Most folks don’t really look at how bad mergers are or when someone buys up a large stock. Here’s another example.
Ubisoft almost had a hostile take over of their company. They had to sell and cut deals to by pass the hostile take over of 48% of their stock being bought by a foreign company, I don’t recall the company’s origin. If we want to debate this topic, I’ll hammer you with the facts and links.
Mergers and being a publicly traded company, are usually very bad in today’s industry. 10 - 15 years ago, not so bad but today, worrying.
This is exactly what some of these gaming companies/publishers are doing. They’re latching themselves onto the success of others, draining them for their money, then leaving. It’s so damn toxic to the industry and to the gaming community that it’s absurd.
In this world, there are owners and there are renters.
Guess which one we players are?
By no means are we the owners, outside the fact that we give your resources to the company who becomes successful and in a position of higher power and influence. In this analogy, we are the renters. We rent the space that is the gaming experience provided by Activision Blizzard. But when a place is being run down and actively falling apart, a renter in the right mind will leave. That’s the logical step towards improvement of life, for both the renter and the owner.
Kinda. Activision-Blizzard is the holding company that owns both Activision and Blizzard, as well as King and a couple other entities. Neither Blizzard, Activision nor King have any control over what the other two do.
Every time a read these posts i feel like no one reads the forums on how the company is structured. It’s been talked about in detail and yet we still get “Activision is doing to Blizzard”.
But a discussion based on assumptions and ignorance is less beneficial because it tends to become a breeding ground for crackpot conspiracy theories.
And you can’t discuss with ignorance or conspiracy theories. Because they just want to hear others that agree with them, and disregard any facts that blatantly contradict them.
