You see the only way they can leave is death and with most religions there’s a higher place to becomes another being. We thought they were dead when actually they are not, cycle repeats just in a higher form.
You have to question why are we not dead because we were already have died.

I still say the Accuser should have become the Arbiter, not Pelagos. She has had the most development of pretty much any character in SL.
She was horrible in life, but has changed so much she put her own life on the line to protect a soul she barely knew. She went against everything when she realized that Renathal had turned evil, even going so far as to try to kill the fabled Maw Walker when they wouldn’t listen.
Her becoming Arbiter would have shown that the cycle of death does work, and that in the end, Revendreth completely redeemed a soul that committed atrocities.

Except we do know. She sends a letter to engineers explaining that she is quite literally exploring the cosmos beyond the Maw where she was originally trapped after finding her way to Zereth Mortis. She also has a new body.

s. priests get a really cool mog that talks to them. +1000 cool points there alone. I often mog staves back into the artifact appearance.

For all we know she still has her old body and duped Cartel Ve with a fake body.
Souls could easily just walk through a Portal to Azeroth provided the Death Knights allow them through.
Maldraxxi visit the Mortal Plane on a regular basis for their missions though as far as I’m aware of Emeni seems to have no active method of getting to Voldun even with the Portals which might not be surprising since she has no hands(them being replaced with blades and all) to hold on potentially necessary flying Mounts(full disclosure: she doesn’t know it but Voldun is easily accessed via Portal Room and on foot) and the House of Rituals(the only ones who could open a direct portal to the place besides Denathrius’s Arcanists) is still being put back in order.

Also, let’s not ignore that Devourers somehow entered the zone without the sigils, among others…
Zovaal could’ve easily just entered Zereth Mortis by learning to use devourer energy like he did Domination magic… or even just enslaving a devourer and training it to portal him and itself to Zereth Mortis specifically…

I thought this was a great sub-story too. Kinda surprised they didn’t run with it… I also like how in the books they elaborate on Arthas’ insanity, and try to explain his views from his perspective (ei: he viewed the ghouls as his subjects, and felt it was his responsibility to feed them).

Agree here too. Yrel was the one bright spot in WoD’s story-- Even if they gutted the mid-point by never finishing the Shatt raid.

Zereth Mortis is sacred. Rifts should not form here. Something creates them. The metal you found has Maw magic. Devourers use it to make rifts. This is how they skirt our protections. Mawsteel shards are strewn across the area. Take these shards. Throw them off our cliffs. Make sure devourers do not use them to create rifts.

The Devourers are in Zereth Mortis because of them tracing the magical link between the Chains of Domination in Korthia and the remains of the Chains of Domination in Zereth Mortis.
Zovaal might have not realized that exploiting the Domination Magical link could work that way. He thinks like a Machine not like an animal.
