I think the community needs to discuss the extremely poor showing from Blizzard this season. The way Season 1 of The War Within has been handled has given us some of the worst displays of balance and attention to the game so far.
We have seen issues with:
Class balance
Mythic Plus Key scaling
M+ Affix balance
M+ Reward balance
Delve balance
Raid balance
Event balance
Virtually every aspect of the game has been rolled out in a borderline unplayable state, with the wait time for fixes being in the weeks, or in some cases they have gone unaddressed for months, with the dev team seemingly AFK. To go into more detail with some examples:
Class Balance: This season has seen multiple classes be either absurdly over or under tuned. BM hunter was basically removed from M+ play with the changes to it’s AoE. Conversly it overperformed in raid. Resto shaman has been the virtual exclusive healer in 10+ keys. I could go on but there are countless examples.
Mythic plus: From poor scaling in keys leading to absurd difficulty jumps between keys, particularly 10+, rewards requiring too high a level of key (mildly corrected by the gilded token change). M+ is in a very poor state. The affix changes have clearly not been worked out ahead of time and are damaging the community. Clearly demonstrated by the Challenger’s Peril issues. All of this stuff has been left WAY too late to be fixed, to the point the season has been effectively dead on arrival.
Delves: broken on release, still massively overtuned for the poor level of rewards they give, ensuring the content is dead on arrival.
Events: Someone at blizzard thought it would be a good idea to make the T2 cosmetics a HUGE selling point for the 20th anniversary patch, then make it so a single set was unobtainable week one.
I am sure everyone reading this has had experiences, and I know many will as always defend the state of the game. But to those people I would say: Compare your dragonflight experiences to The War Within so far and tell me with a straight face balance has been appropriately addressed.
God I didn’t even think of that. But glad to know that they’ve also dropped the ball on that. So basically, at this point, all aspects of the game.
Strongly disagree given that there was zero issue getting full myth track every season last tier. And the recently affix changes affirm my view that it is over tuned.
Don’t mistake a lack of interest for a lack of ability. In any case this isn’t about me personally. Plenty of people are not happy with the state of M+.
They need to just scrap all this new flashy crap and literally copy paste everything from Cata into TWW.
Class balancing was the best it ever was in Cata pvp imo.
They have made the game so hard to balance by adding in all this new flashy crap they will literally never get it right.
“The community” is not going to discuss anything. All you will ever hear from of the millions who play this game is the few thousand people in the forums.
As for the “poor showing”, in my opinion TWW is the best expansion I’ve seen so far. Follower Dungeons, Delves and Story Mode Raids have finally opened up the best features of the game to the vast number of players who don’t do end game content.
Mate they haven’t tested anything they have put out since they brought out TBC Classic. Remember when Lady Vashj and TK were fully bugged and they just released it in that state without telling anyone til a week later ? Pepperidge Farm remembers, and that was over 3 years ago now.
a lot of the games current issues is likey due to them forcing the 20th event out before the next Microsoft’s next expected earnings call, which is the 30th. cant sell a promotional 90 dollar mount without an event to promote
alright, so delvs are in a terrible state, they’re good for solo content sure, But that changes as soon as you try to find a group for those delvs, thats when the scaling gets out of wack and becomes more difficult then what rewards it does give.
Follower dungeons and story mode raiding is completely fine, and was something he has never mentioned, nor is it something a single person has a problem with.
