The Ability To Buy Everything

Not a troll post. I really hate how you even thought that it would be. I hate how we live in a time where the first thing that comes to mind is trolling. This isn’t even remotely close. I’m just curious to see both sides. I bought PUBG for $30 when it came out, I bought Jenna Marbles’ gun for $20. I spent $50 on the game and im super happy. I bought another 10 keys for various chests. Total spent, $70ish, and im super ecstatic. It doesn’t make me better. It makes me have a cool skin.

So I paid $60 for WoW, I pay $15 a month. That’s not terrible. So a sick set of gear comes out, it’s $40, sure i’ll buy it if it’s sick enough. I only play girl characters in game who wear the default thot armor. So if it really captivated me, sure why not? No one flipped out when those $10 helms were available for the in game shop. I don’t think they sold well, but hey, none the less they were for sale for a long time.

Skips are the same concept. We’ve all done it a bunch, whats the point of skipping something we’ve already done?

To just reiterate what I’ve said, they should just make the content great from the start.

Technically speaking on what other users have said, really it’s already at a point where the game is micro transactions.

Boosts, WoW Tokens, Race Changes (TZ passive is crazy strong, especially on Paladin, it’s like two Lay On Hands in the same kit). That right there is pretty much pay to win. Now having that information. I go into the game right now as a fresh user wanting to play WoW. I just read this form.

I buy Wow ($30) ($22 if I buy a key of G2A), then a sub ($15), then a WoW token ($15). I can now spam dungeons to hit 120, buy gear off the AH to get 370 iLvL, and queue for normal BoD. I get lucky, get some pieces, do it again, and again. Now I’m already further than the guy who’s having not so good luck getting RNG on gear.

Let’s remove boosts, remove RNG, and make the passives on these new races not so strong. Actually let’s just delete the store entirely. No need to sell anything actually. Other than game time.

its higher level BoE greens to get your 320 to enter the warfront rotations faster.

It saves maybe a week of work of WQ rotations in the worst case of a super casual casual really.

get that 320 and now start to work for all the real gear. Which is BoP.

No P2W here…just pay to skip a few days of work. to speed up to where many casuals like me are at. I wait about 2 weeks for darkshore to pop. Only it gives us non dungeon/raid loving runners gear to care about.

Sweetie, I just asked what people think of the idea. I’m not taking either side in the argument, i’m agreeing with both. I can see why someone hates, I can see why someone loves it. Asking someones opinion on a matter, doesn’t mean i’m about that life. Though a mount of the month club might be cool.

Buying specific pieces of gear on the AH vs. THE SHINY BOX (which already exists)

Those two things are so incredibly different - if you can’t get that, I give up.

Then this applies to the OP.

Here we go again.

If you cant see how buying a box with a glowing blue squirrel in it isnt PtW, and that buying a token to sell to then buy a mythic raid run or full AH gear is PtW, I give up.

First and for most, i’m not your sweetie, secondly its a stupid idea that many have had over the last 10 years that have destroyed the genre by introducing systems that give instant gratification to players who have no concept, of what makes a mmorpg a mmorpg.

Please tell us, oh wise one. Share with us your game development wisdom.

you do realize that the hypothetical lootbox gear would be cosmetic right? like ilvl 1? things like this already exist in the game. remember the 3 helms you could buy from the store?

Buying Loot Boxes is worse.

I’ve sabe you a reply. However you are imagining these loot boxes, it won’t be as great and as happy as you think, and yes, please do talk about the love for loot boxes in overwatch, and while we’re at it, how much people ADORE buying decks in heartstone. Don’t forget the real money AH in Diablo 3.

Yes, all those systems have led those games to such popularity that Fornight is scared and Fallout 76 is doing amazing.

Buying gold, carries, gear, progression
Fanbois: Well that’s in game soooooo… Nuh-uh not P2W 'cuz I don’t like P2W and Blizz would never do something I don’t like!

Buying shiny cosmetics and skipping tedious questlines
Fabois: Lol Blizz doesn’t do that so it must be bad they r perfect designers they know best i bet it’s P2W that must be why!

Hard NO to all of that.

You should be embarrassed for bringing this up.

What the OP wants is ESO. The grind for the stuff in that could take forever. Or $1000’s of dollars. That’s if you can unlock it in game at all because a lot of it can’t be gotten anywhere but the store. You can throw your life’s savings at gambling crates to your hearts content.

For the rest of us who actually want to play the game to get rewards there is WoW. If it becomes ESO this will be my last MMORPG.

oh downvote button, how i miss thee.

found the EA rep spy.

just no.

i dont?
so idk who you mean when you say “we all” when you dont bother to fact check :expressionless:

and you are part of the problem then.

ppl who willingly do that make the problem stick around. if ppl stopepd buying them theyd vanish and we would get 100% compelte game releases w/o RNG.

MMORPG are meant to be PLAYED.
Not bought.

You don’t know there’s a blue squirrel, and it’s under a category different from PtW - illegal because it’s a form of gambling. It doesn’t matter what’s in it, what matters is that it always changes and you don’t know what’s within.

Difference of opinion I guess, but if I have to choose between months of my TIME or a few bucks, I choose to spend $ every time. Does this mean “YETH GUYTH I GET FULL MYTHIC GEAR CUZ I hAvE mOaR MONEY”? No. What this means is I get to play a new race that I want without having to waste all my time on meaningless chores for months, and I can use my time more efficiently. If you’d rather not spend $ and do it the old fashioned way, more power to you. But some of us have this thing called a life.

Okay so, I really should of made this thread entitled:

“Who Thinks We Should Remove Boosts And WoW Tokens”

Cause i’m getting that vibe really heavy, not just from you, but that most people hate the fact that WoW has any type of easy mode established. If that be buying gear off the AH or having one of your friends carry you through a heroic BoD. The idea wouldn’t really be okay at this point in the game, you know that right?

WoW died in Wrath in that case.

I know you wan’t BC and Vanilla back (I think classic comes out soon), I do too. I loved progression raiding, trying to get the staff off of Lady Deathwhisper that never dropped and very few people had. When I got it on my lock, I was so accomplished. I know you want the hard grind of being in the only person on the server to have the key to Karazhan. Trust me I do too.

Let’s take a brief look at the past WoW expansions and key changes in them, versus the other MMO’s. Games like Terra and Aion tried to bring things to the table like new combat and fighting that broke the standard of MMO’s click spell- do damage. It didn’t work. It didn’t work because people liked WoW. Remember all the games that came out that tried to be the WoW killer? ESO, Wildstar, SW:TOR, FF 14. Everything hit WoW left and right, but nothing truly dropped WoW to it’s knees, except…for WoW.

When Blizzard saw the big picture of “We can charge for that, let’s charge for that!”, it started the decline. Too far gone, ya know?

In order for this game to return to what you want, as well as what I want, as well as what the “hardcore fan base” wants. They’d need to prune more than just abilities. That’s not going to happen.

In what world is gambling illegal? They make it clear from the get go that it’s rng and no guarantees. You know what you’re buying going in, and if you don’t then you need to re evaluate your money spending habits.

By your logic I suppose they should remove the black market mystery boxes, yeh?

It would make no difference to me since I play for fun and if it ain’t fun I don’t play, but (as they currently do) offering an option to skip something by paying money tells me something about the content of the game I’m playing.
