The Ability To Buy Everything

I’m just curious as to those who would support just buying something in the in game shop, rather than working for it for the fourth (or fifteen) time. I used “Blizzard” pricing for this example. For instance:

Level 25 Boost: $10
Level 50 Boost: $20
Level 75 Boost: $30
Level 100 Boost: $40
Level 120 Boost: $60

Skip The War Campaign: $30

Friendly (Anything Not Revered) To Exalted with Faction $25
Revered To Exalted with Faction $15

High Mountain: $20
Nightborne $20
Mag Har: $30
Zandalari Trolls: $30

Lightforged: $20
Void Elf: $20
Dark Iron: $30
Kul Tiras: $30

Loot Boxes: $1 for 1
Loot Boxes: $40 for 50

Loot boxes would contain things like: mounts, transmog, toys, junk items, rare items that can be sold to vendors for fair amounts of gold(500 - 1000), junk items, foods, 24 hour effect item such as appearance change or silly clothing, experience pots, rep pots, a character boost, a name change, a race change, and maybe some other stuff in the store, also don’t forget junk items.

Though I don’t think anyone would pay for these with boosts available, why not throw em in anyways?

Experience Boost 100% (24 Hours): $10
Experience Boost 100% (1 Week) $30
Rep Boost 100% (1 Week) $30
These stack with everything, in game. They would be account bound.

I’ve had this discussion with my friends several times, over the past six months, especially since the release of BFA. The changes the Blizzard has implemented with recent times just makes the game non-alt friendly. While i’m sure a lot of people would lose their minds over these choices, I think a ton of users would gladly pay. After doing the war campaign and being time gated for days a time, on multiple characters. Just pay for a skip. Tired of grinding out Sons Of Hodir rep daily, for a old mount that you need, just to hit 300 mounts obtained before a guildie? Just pay for a rep boost. Really sick of dungeon grinding Dire Maul for the twelfth time just to get a level, and Blizzard want’s you to quest, well in exchange for them needing money and you hating Dire Maul. Just pay for an experience boost! Want to flex on your friends with that rare mount only in loot boxes? Use your graduation/wedding or child’s college fund money to buy all of them. You’re sure to get it!

Were at a point now were we all hate these ideas, miss the old WoW, and hate the direction the game is going. Yet, this would be a fast cash grab for Blizzard and you all know gosh darn well, people are going to spend money on it. Even the one’s who “hate it”. I’d buy lootboxes, absolutely. HoTs does it. Overwatchthis does it. Every other game in the world right now does it. Blizzard is a business at the end of the day. So by show of hands, let’s hear the thoughts?

Micro transactions are brilliant. Exploit the laziness and stupidity of others.

So, what I hear you saying is, you support WoW going pay to win?

No. Absolutely not.

No to all of that.

Would be bad for the players but also only encourage Blizz to make those things taker longer to achieve normally so as to guide you to just buying it. Dont encourage blizz to be any lazier than they already are.

As long as you can’t buy actual max level gear/progression I’m in support of this - rep grinding and time gates are cancer and I’d gladly pay to skip them

If getting a mount in a loot box, is pay to win. Sure.
If skipping a quest chain that offers no reward, just time gates. Sure.

Loot boxes are a stupid idea and should never be encouraged.

Why? They’re totally optional and give nothing but cosmetics.

Or you know, play the game as intended and earn those things through work and dedication. Want to be lazy and have it handed to you? Don’t play an mmo.

This. One of the main reasons I dropped ESO and I would drop WoW as well. That and ESO had almost nothing exciting that could be obtained in game outside of their store.

I want to have the most exciting things unlocked as goals through playing the game. That is why I keep coming back to WoW.

  1. because of their random nature, they are a bad deal for a customer.

  2. it is basically gambling and there are legislators working on making them illegal.

  3. once a company starts getting that sweet sweet gambling money, you will see more and more stuff put in there and a lower rate of appearing.

  4. again, it is gambling and kids are playing this game.

  5. if you want to sell something cosmetics, then just sell it.

Not everyone likes mindlessly grinding world quests just to play a new race.

You have no idea what pay to win is.

No thanks family. I think I’d like to keep that stuff in front of the wall of pay.

Ditto: huge no

I like most sides of this. it’s interesting to hear everyone out. Ya know?

Side 1: “This is horrible, it encourages: laziness, greed, entitlement, no work ethic, effortless advancement. It’s a bad idea, it’s going to make blizzard make content to make people want to purchase this type of thing more and more.”

Side 2: “I’ve done this three times, I really wanna level a hunter now, but i’m so tired of having to do the war campaign in BFA just to get to the same spot as my other toons. Since I’ve hit exalted on both my other toons, why should I have to do it a fourth time. I shouldn’t, I should just buy a boost. It’s only $40. Then that way I can at least have the same advantage as my other characters.”

Think about a “mount of the month club”, it’s $20, you get a mount that month that you can never obtain again. If you buy a year outright, you get a limited edition amount that maybe there are only 100 of. So you better be quick to buy it.

Think about a full transmog set for $50, and it’s basically what you would’ve gotten as a tier set for a raid in new content(had tier sets still been a thing), rather than the mediocre set’s that are there now. Something poppy, shinny, dark, cute and special effect esque.

However think about something completely crazy, like must get 1 million doubloons from the island expos, and you can buy a transmog that basically makes you look like Captain Jack Sparrow. Blizzard do I hear a Disney merger?

Perhaps getting exalted with all the reps for BFA. On one of every race or class. Imagine the reward you could get with that? Shoot, I bet only a handful of players would try to do that.

In life there is always balance. It’s just finding that balance, that’s the hard part. Remember that.
