The Ability To Buy Everything

It’s also a matter of perspective. For some reaching max level is all the win they need so buying a level boost is pay to win. If your goal is to finish all content at the most difficult settings with a group of friends, not paid raid carries, then there is no pay to win.

Ahh the typical “you’re a troll and therefore everything you say is invalid” tactic. Go back to tumblr.

But… You are a troll, like really

What did I just look at…

Gotta disagree man. I am not stretching. If you can pay money to bypass a time gate, especially rep that unlocks gear, you gain an advantage.

That is pay to win.

Rep that unlocks…gear? And what gear would that be, the gear that gets radically outclassed by warfront gear? We all know how hard it is to gear from those.

Heck no! Over-reliance on microtransactions would kill the game for me. This is the very thing that made me quit another game.

Then there’d still be no pay-to-win if you could buy everything, so no harm no foul, right?

What do you actually get by paying for a war campaign skip? An allied race? Some AP? A little bit of gold and rep? I mean I geared 100% through mythics. Which I would’ve done regardless on any of my characters. I’m a huge fan of spamming dungeons to get levels rather than quest, cause I don’t play DPS. Did you know world quests don’t unlock if you’re not at a certain rep?

On this specific character: I did TW dungeons to hit 120, equipped BOE’s to get 320. Did a Mythic or four. Got more gear. Now i’m at 345. I’m gonna start doing some +4/5’s tonight, to try and get higher iLvL on her.

The only character I really fully completed the war campaign on, and it isn’t even really done, is my main. I just got to where I needed to get to so that flight paths and such are unlocked and, rep to unlock patterns for crafting. I don’t gold farm. I don’t do anything besides run mythic + with my friends, and farm TLPD. I like world pvp a lot too.

So even though i’ve personally had all the “time” in the world. I can easily start a Heroic BOD right now and maybe get 2/9. However the gear that drops from 10+'s is the same. Completing the War Campaign and doing Mythic Pluses aren’t related at all. So a skip wouldn’t matter. Really the only thing it does for me is give me an allied race. One of which I kind of want, but don’t really care if I don’t get.

So if I personally bought the boost, it really wouldn’t do “much”. Ya know? When 8.2 comes out, and the iLvl gets adjusted for dungeons again, im gonna do the same thing on my main. Base mythics> gear>mythic pluses>more gear. Save BoE’s for other characters.

I get that I am not like everyone else, but I can relate to those who have done this six or seven times and are ready to unsub for having to do it yet again. The real question is, if all the allied races were part of the deluxe version, would you have purchased the deluxe version for $20 more?

To OP,

I know the feeling. We’ve got some money and how wonderful would it be if we can get ahead by spending some money right?

2 reasons why it’s bad though

  1. As the time goes by, all the grinding in WOW will get worse and worse to semi-force people to spend money

  2. Even if they don’t make it worse, people who play without spending money will feel like it’s too tough and not fair and will start complaining how the game has become Pay-To-Win …etc…
    Many will leave.

So for the long run, we need as little as possible at Cash shop.
Let’s stick with mounts, pets, morgs and services…although I don’t approve of them but at least they don’t disturb the game balance too much.

what child own a credit card?

Do you understand why the boosts exist at the start of a new expansion?

It’s not done for pay to win reasons.

  1. It allows a new player to immediately begin playing the new content rather than having to play though outdated content

  2. It allows new players, who are friends of current players, to buy the expansion and immediately begin playing with their friends rather than first having to level up all the way to the next expansion.

In short, it’s primarily for new players, and acts as a nice expansion bonus for current players. They have to offer it because people would just buy additional expansions and account transfer characters otherwise, which is why it costs roughly the same as an expansion.

And how do you enter those war fronts to get even better gear? You have to reach a certain ilevel. If you can pay to unlock the rep gear, you have an advantage by getting to the required item level instantly.

You just don’t want to admit that it is pay to win.

the day they implement a craptastic thing like this is they day I uninstall

The reason that it’s done is irrelevant - the fact remains that there is a massive surge of fresh high lvl’s that dont know how to play theyre class but get carried to high lvls without work. They get an advantage by not having to spend all that time lvling and getting to “farm gold and gear” whereas another person is levelling the old fashioned way. Literally nothing changes, the reason for the boost doesn’t matter, and tbh it isn’t a huge deal either way.

No thanks.

The game is there to be played. There are more than enough purchasing options that allow bypassing playing already.

That would be true if you could guarantee every item was on the auction house and the price of each item beforehand. As it stands, it’s just a currency converter.

As for the BiS gear, the only time we came close to anything like that was in WoD, and it didn’t scale to mythic, and OMG - actually made professions useful!

Instead, we have to live in a world where professions are largely useless because god forbid people can buy decent gear at crazy prices on the AH.
