I didn’t really expect you guys to care or put effort into this raid post launch and it really shows, but it’s still disappointing.
The tuning of the raid on heroic is still abhorrent especially for the rewards it gives. The amount of groups running it has substantially dropped off, and it is hard to blame people for not being interested in doing the raid anymore. It takes way too long on for way too little rewards.

It’s a shame because from a mechanical / design perspective it’s really really good. They really nailed the homage to the original instance with modern mechanics that feel a step up from dungeons but not necessarily on the level of modern raid encounters.
I thoroughly enjoyed running it on heroic once, even with no prospect of loot, just to see what they’d done. It could just do with being tuned for 610-615 instead of 620-625.

The war within tuning has been a clown show.

Yeah I actually liked how the raid turned out from a mechanical and thematic perspective. The tuning just makes it annoying to run.

625+ groups getting ran over still is embarrassing from a tuning standpoint

Agree. It is a shame BRD dropped off. I’ve been checking LFG for heroic BRD and nothing was coming up. It really is too bad, such a throw back to classic and how Blizz updated it to be a raid. I’m surprised Blizz hasn’t put more time into BRD to bring players back to the instance.
Next reset is getting more nerfs for heroic but can’t say what they will do to the instance.
However having at this point 4 rounds of massive nerfs to heroic is proof Blizzard did not tune their own freaking raid.
BRD sucked from a tuning standpoint when it first appeared 20 years ago. I agree, but then again, I’m also finding it a bit amusing LOL
Theyre giving it the ansurek treatment snd lowering dmg and hp values by 20 percent or more.
Basically all the nerfs combined equal 80% nerf to dmg and 50 to hp, plus people gaining new gear.
I have a feeling that Blizzard made it hard intentionally due to two reasons
- It was released a few weeks into the season, so they probably expected people would have the gear to do it, but also expect a “reasonable challenge”
- There is no mythic difficulty so heroic kind of had to make up for that.
Obviously the reaction they got was not what they expected. BRD felt more like Nighthold with how much of an overreaction the tuning was. At least Palace wasn’t cleared in 18 hours for world first mythic lol. Imagine if that happened to a raid.
I don’t recall NH being much of a roadblock, be that heroic or mythic. I do agree they overstepped in brd tho, but I appreciate that they are least didn’t make it a pushover. That’d arguably have been more disappointing given how well designed the fights are they’re actually fun to progress if you beat the gear checks.
It isn’t just the heroic difficulty. The normal difficulty is overtuned as well. I have a hard time believing a group of 10 or 15 people that could all make use of the gear that drops in there could reasonably clear it.
Also, none of the gear has mastery on it. When they replaced all the hit, expertise, spirit, defense, dodge, etc. they changed it all to versatility. I couldn’t find a single piece in there that has mastery.
We ran it last night and even with these “nerfs” it still felt tighter than NP on most bosses. Maybe the changes just didn’t happen to be in yet while we were inside but the hotfixes got posted while we were at the second boss, so I assumed they were in and didn’t require an instance reset.
The raid is such a slog. Such large health pools and so much damage from the bosses/adds. 625+ groups slogging through it and its exhausting
Someone at Blizzard keeps listening to the vocal minority that want everything to be punishingly hard. And lets face it, there will always be a subset of those people that will say WoW is too easy no matter how difficult the devs make things. That subset of individuals should NOT be driving design.
For an anniversary event, for something where nostalgia was supposed to be king, it really should have been tuned to be easier than the current raid, should have been a place for people to get easy gear upgrades even if not optimal ones (sorry for everyone that loves mastery, lol). Guilds should be able to clear it quickly before going back to their normal raid progression without worry of making sure they have the correct number of players and it should have just been “fun”.

I checked heroic BRD runs yesterday and only saw 2 groups forming, while there were about 10 advert groups trying to sell H/M carries in palace.
It’s crazy how few people want to do heroic and I don’t blame them. At this point, even if they did make heroic a face roll, I don’t think we’d see a surge in number of BRD heroic runs, when you can get tier and trinkets in the actual S1 raid.

I believe heroic just got a flat 12% health and damage nerf.
Heroic just got nerfed but it wasn’t even close to enough. It’s really sad how the fumbled this event,

Visually and even mechanics wise, the fights looked fun, but it should have been an easy raid, even on heroic. Hopefully, if this raid comes back in another anniversary, Blizzard will realize this and make sure that this is a fun walk back in time, rather than a wipe fest.
