The 8.2 Thread

Well, giving someone the chance to kill you is certainly better than burning their house to the ground while they can’t escape and weren’t fighting you in the first place.

There are vestiges of a kind of honor here, but it’s muddy and inconsistent.

At this point I’m just waiting for them to end BfA so I can enjoy the story maybe hopefully again.

(with a side of them probably killing the new scarlets again :pensive:)

There are several ways to say “the faction conflict will continue for the rest of BfA” without making it sound like it’s never ending.

Well they can’t just say it’s over, or else…

It’s not WARcraft y’know?! WARcraft, now featuring honorpain!

I dunno. They said they wanted to retread MoP, despite this newest lie, and we’re pretty much on track to do that.

5.0/8.0: The Alliance and Horde travel to a new land to seek ways of killing each other.

5.1/8.1: The Alliance scores a few trifling victories over the Horde.

5.2/8.2: The faction war goes on hold briefly while the Alliance/Horde travel to a new land to fight Azshara/Thunder King.

The end of the faction war will probably be next patch where we’re coerced into serving Saurfang, like we were coerced into serving Vol’jin.

“He also notes that Garrosh’s motives were different; they were an attempt to restore a lost vision of the Horde at the expense of everything else. Sylvanas’ goals are still unclear, but Hazzikostas notes, “There will not be a trial where she is in chains. Sylvanas is not a character who would find herself in that situation … ever.”

Of course Ion the reason we all know this is MoP 2.0 is because we thought you were going to put on a trial for Sylvanas

I know the trial wasn’t great for like… A lot of reasons.

And I won’t pretend like my perspective isn’t absolutely drowning in bias.

But I really don’t like how that, specifically, even if it’s just a single quote intended in a slightly different light, reeks of safety from meaningful consequence.

I just cant wrap my head around them being so disconnected (I suppose they might not be and they simply dont care) that they think her motivations being different and not having a trial somehow mean anything against the litany of parallels to MoP.

Right, but I’m not sure any of those ways don’t get Ion in trouble with his boss for spoiling stuff that isn’t ready yet, is my meaning.

I guess, though I’d argue that they’ve already said this expansion will bring the faction conflict to a close and saying contradictory stuff like the above only serves to exacerbate the growing sense that Blizzard has no idea how to actually communicate.

I was fairly confident this was effectively fact by this point. You can only stack so many mountains on top of each other.

That’s fair

There might not be a trial per se but that doesn’t mean that the Warchief won’t escape to another world and be directly responsible for how the next expansion starts. Again.

Him saying there won’t be a trial kind of tells me that we are exactly on that path because why even throw that out there? Because you know people are guessing the outcome and you want to mislead them with technicalities to try and throw them off.

And since she is escaping, it makes me think even more that SuperSaiyanAzerite Nathanos form is going to be the final boss so he can die for his love and cover her exit.

`Ion also addressed the concerns that the Horde players were forced into a very dark story, complicit with Sylvanas in the genocide of Teldrassil.

“It’s a heavy responsibility, and it’s not one that anyone on the team takes lightly,” he says. “Our aim in storytelling is always to evoke emotion. If that goes too far, it can feel exploitative, it can feel like players are caught in a situation they don’t want to be in. We want people to stick around, to play with their friends, and to see the end of the story we’re telling”

Omg how did I miss this beautiful mess?

I will accept this if she escapes through a portal to the shadowlands for another undead expansion

Sounds dope

Why is it always “it’s a problem that the Horde feels like they’re the bad guys” and never “it’s a problem that the Alliance feels like they’re the Horde’s punching bag?”

I’m caught between the agreement with the obvious and the equally, profoundly distressing fact that Blizzard hasn’t actually addressed that people weren’t okay with being complicit in the War of Thorns debacle to begin with because the only things that come to address it are long after the fact.

This is what happens when you let non writers dictate story with what most likely stated with “wouldn’t it be metal if Sylvanas burned down Teldrassil?”

And it totes mcgoats was metal

And totally worth it
