The 11.1 patch cycle

The 11.1 patch cycle has been a bit strange with its borrowed power effects. Not only does the raid have a ramping buff that helps to make things easier, but both 11.1.5 and 11.1.7 bring extra power to the players. Neither Corruption Enchants nor the Durable Information Securing Container can really feel impactful because of this. If they were strong in their own right, it might just make things too easy. On the other hand, the constantly running hamster wheel of these effects is starting to feel reminiscent of the Artifact Power/Azerite Power grinds in Legion and Battle for Azeroth. Just a constant cycle of incredibly minor damage gains that take far longer to achieve than they probably should, due to the time gating and lack of any actual substance in the content being provided.

If we were to compare the content of 11.1.7, it pales in comparison to 11.0.7, the Siren Isle, while both are .7 patches, the differences in the amount of content itself is quite stark. While the Siren Isle was also re-used content for where in the world it took place, it felt like more care was taken to craft the experience players had on the island, with unique systems, and tons of things to find. Alongside all of that, the impacts of Cyrce's Circlet Cyrce’s Circlet are still being felt today with the power it provided. It was incredibly powerful on its own once it was tuned, and the community figured out how to really leverage the effects in creative way. Reducing healers in their raid comp, maximizing total raid damage by utilizing Legendary Skipper's Citrine Legendary Skipper’s Citrine, and so much more. The D.I.S.C feels like a missed opportunity in this regard, with incredibly run-of-the-mill proc effects, and being something that will be replaced very quickly come patch 11.2.

In my honest opinion, not every mid-season patch needs these power gains, but if they are in a mid-season patch, their content should probably be far more fleshed out than Horrific Visions and Overcharged Delves have been. These feel shallow and uninteresting, as if there was no time, effort, or care put into crafting the experience. Rather, just push out something that works to keep players logging in every week for the 0.1% extra DPS they will never notice in practice. Combine this aspect with a severe lack of class changes, and the 11.1.5 and 11.1.7 patches have been massive flops, some of the worst content patches WoW has seen in many years. I would much rather see them put more time into classes, refining the experience everyone has and making the game more fun for the average player, than these continuous grinds that don’t leave an impression.

My own thoughts so I do not just copy-paste third party material: Acknowledging the sloth they are wallowing in right now with regard to the story, they should at least give us bits that hype us up with each minor patch. Instead the minor patches are really, and I mean really… not even a side dish, but a free coupon dorrito in some fast-food restaurant that is not even WoW.

Like I said in another thread, the only content of substance is Mythic+ and a single raid, that’s it. Also why I think bringing Visions back was probably one of the bigger W’s Blizzard has made because the vast majority of “content” in this game is absolute garbage.

The content is causing a lot of discontent :frowning:

Unfortunately the lowest common denominator probably does not mind what they get.
Also people keep yapping how we get more content than ever before whereas before it was just about pacing and frontloading so much of the content in major patches.

Is bringing back boring content really a win tho?

Content with actual mechanics generally isn’t considered boring, as opposed to most of what this game has to offer currently.

Visions would have been a semi? win if they had done more with it, like corrupter Dornogal for example. Yes NZoth is dead but the void is not. Would have been a perfect time to also explore Xalatath as a villain…

It’s just… not fun. I can’t place it but they bored me in BfA and they don’t interest me now.

Definitely better than delves at least. The only mechanics of note in those things are killing the health sponge enemies lol.

WIth the amount of side-dishes Blizz has been giving us, eventified as they are, I would not be surprised if soon we get something along the lines of Candy Crush or World of Tanks in a minor patch.

I find them incredibly fun. It sucks that you don’t, but you don’t speak for the entire playerbase.

I don’t do delves because I don’t find them fun. But I’m not going to complain that they’re in the game. I just don’t do them.

You can play candy crush in Nazjatar

The “reused” content is there to provide something to do while they work on the actual new content. The alternative is they just don’t release anything, and I think most people would agree that something > nothing.
The small bowered power bumps are there to act as a soft nerf to current content so people can reach their goals easier without blizzard having to directly nerf things.

Can you point me to the location where I said I was speaking for everyone?

I’ll wait.

Would you like a cookie for that?

The thread is about the 11.1 patch cycle, and people brought up the minor patch content that fits into this season’s cycle. Perfectly reasonable to discuss my experiences and disappointments with said content.

You’re making blanket statements that the content is boring and not fun. Well to many it is fun and not boring. So it sucks that you don’t like it, but plenty of other people do.

Im making statements on my experiences and disappointments. Nowhere did I say, “No one finds this content fun and everyone thinks it’s boring.”

It’s almost as if I’m speaking on my experiences and reality and no one else’s.

This OP is giving me extreme déjà vu, I am fairly sure I’ve seen this exact post made last week.

Is this a re-post, copy paste, or AI? Maybe I’m just going mad from seeing the future in my dreams?

The hilarious, and frankly sad part, is that I’m actually right lol.

They need to just add a vendor that lets you buy gear from the raid up to Champion track, but you have to PVP or complete old world raids to get it.

Just do something new. Plus every time I make an alt there is a massive hump to get Champion track gear because no one plays the game. They do Heroic raid then log off or they live inside of keys that fresh alts can’t do.

On one hand the way 11.1 patches were released, they attempted to keep players engaged longer, on the other, they turned this into a meme tier.

The character power difference between 11.1.0 and 11.1.7 has to be among the biggest power ramps within a single patch in WoWs history. Between the Visions head enchant, buying BIS trinkets and weps with coins, the 6 ilvl increase turbo boost, and the 700+ ilvl belt coming… its almost up another tier level now compared to how 11.1.0 started.

Not necessarily a good or bad thing but you can just ignore the first 2/3 of the patch and start playing at 11.1.7 to accomplish whatever goals once all the increased power is out.
