Has anyone found a solution to counter that one dumb add-on that auto marks the tank and the healer? Probably the dumbest add-on to ever be created and has become more of an annoyance than anything.
The best I have been able to do is just unmark myself whenever it pops up but is there an add-on or a weak aura that counters it and auto clears marks on players?
I think it’s funny that ppl need the tank and healer to be marked in dungeons. If the healer is an evoker, it’s not hard to spot the dragon standing behind the group. If the healer is a paladin, I try to stand closer to the melee.

In world of frontal craft its pretty important to know where the tank is.

Most of the dungeons are linear in design so havibg an addon that constantly marks the tank and healer is unnecessary. If someone is lost its their own fault.

The mark being put on the tank isn’t for saying follow the leader, it’s for trash in HoV where just about every humanoid mob has a frontal that will one shot a DPS, or a tank if the Key is high enough and they kite them. It’s for mechanics like the tree in Academy or the second boss in CoS where everyone stacks and moves at the same time to spawn the adds in a consolidated spot. Those are small examples but the marks help.

Maybe it’s a weakaura?
Marking the tank is incredibly useful for frontals in chaotic pulls, as well as pixel stacking for some boss mechanics. Knowing exactly where the tank is helps with some bad visual frontals in particular, though.

Perhaps there’s a weakaura that will counter it? At least ones placed on me. Or maybe a macro?
9/10 times the mobs are 100% overlapping the tank model, so a mark is the only way to see where the tank is standing. I don’t like it either, but sadly this is what we need to see the direction of frontals.
Good luck spotting the direction of Quell frontals in CoS when there’s 10 mobs standing inside with all similar color schemes.

For what it’s worth, as a healer, I like having the tank marked. There’s a lot going on and I’m splitting my attention between the game so I don’t stand in bad and healthbars so I can keep people alive. A mark on the tank helps me identify where they are. Especially so when they’re in the middle of a big AoE pack that has a cleave mob in it, so I can make sure I know where the enemies are facing (infered by the line between the mark and the mob pack). Even then I still lose them sometimes.
I don’t think this is something that needs to be auto-marked, but it’s really helpful for me to have one on the tank
I’ve never had to have such an addon. The mobs are never so tense to not see where things are. But to have addons that force mark you because people can’t pay attention is something else. I do not need a star stapled to my head once the tank initiates a fight on every pull.
It would make more sense if it did it on specific mobs where a new tank might have some issues. But its every single pull, it appears. I take it off and poof. Its back on. The dungeons are never change, an addon to mark where people are at is not necessary.
It’s an option in the automarker weakaura. You should have one on the tank, healer doesn’t need one.

While I agree that the healer doesn’t need one, what is the big deal? Is there some problem with people seeing where you’re positioned that I’m not aware of? Maybe the tank has had a history of LoS’ing the healer and uses this to make sure they can always know where you are at a glance. I just don’t understand why you care so much either way.

I hate the tattle add ons that tell the entire group when someone makes a mistake then tallies up in the end who took the most avoidable damage that seems like a massive breeding ground for toxicity

Yeah allot of people can’t handle getting called out for their mistakes
You’re right, people taking a ton of avoidable damage is super toxic.

This is straying a bit off course…does anyone know if a macro exists to just remove the symbol? I dont mind making one if it saves me from having to manually do it each time.
You literally missed the entire point
Try this (not tested). I like both tank and healer to be marked. Aggressive add on might mark faster than you can remove.
/run SetRaidTarget(“player”, 0)
