Who else could it be?
Uhhh, no. His father is named Hekazi.
To be safe, I couldn’t find Vul’jin.
He is my nephew
Random troll character that became a fan favorite and earned the nick-name Zappy-boi thus making him indispensable and turning him into a lore character.
This. Besides which, Vol’jin doesn’t have any children. Yes, there’s ONE questline in Northern Stranglethorn where some Troll claims Yenniku is the youngest son of Vol’jin, but I don’t think that’s acknowledged as canon.
Are you talking about Zek’han? (The one everybody calls “Zappyboi” * shudders *)
I don’t believe he is Vol’jinn’s son & in fact, I do not recall ever hearing that Vol’jinn had a family at all. (If he did, please point me to that lore - I LOVE lore!)
Vol’jin actually has multiple unnamed and irrelevant to the lore children.
Yenniku was the one you mentioned, is canonically the youngest, I do not believe this has been retconned, it’s just not important.
No Vol’jin’s sons are Vol’rum and Vol’dka
A meme that spiralled out of control and somehow ended up becoming a relevant lore figure.
Matt “Burnzerker” Burns, a senior writer, associate publishing developer, and story developer for Blizzard, didn’t even seem to know that Yenniku was said to be Vol’jin’s son prior to being asked about it.
Yenniku not currently being explicitly acknowledged as one of multiple sons of Vol’jin doesn’t necessarily mean Vol’jin having children was retconned, though. Living children of Vol’jin could still show up at some point. They’re just not currently acknowledged in the official canon.
If Tandred Proudmoore can become canon after Chris Metzen declaring him non-canon, then it’s certainly possible for Vol’jin’s children to eventually show up as well, or at least get mentioned.
I think Vol’jin’s children not currently being acknowledged is based more on the devs not knowing that Vol’jin was ever written as having children rather than the devs looking at Yenniku and saying “Nope, not canon.”
Maybe in the next expansion we’ll see children of Vol’jin. They would have to explain why they’ve been absent from lore-important events like the naming of a new Warchief, Vol’jin’s funeral, and Darkspear lore regarding current leadership, though.
It wouldn’t surprise me if all of Vol’jin’s children are revealed to be currently believed dead by the Darkspear, hence why they haven’t shown up yet. Yenniku is essentially currently deceased, for instance, and the questline associated with him does not acknowledge the status of Vol’jin’s other children.
At this point being the only aspect of the story people liked of bfa he could be anyone and I imagine he will appear here and there.
He sure has a lot of Zap.
He cleared a path right to the other side…
