That Authenticator Code is Invalid

I’m trying to log into WoW, using the same computer I’ve always used.

For whatever reason, WoW is now demanding an authenticator code.

It was my understanding that we now use Battle.net app for authenticators, but whatever. So, I opened Battlenet on my iPhone and it tells me, “Check your Authenticator for request 2L6P.”

So, I open up the authenticator, which I thought we had done away with. And I enter the code in the circle timer. But it tells me that Authenticator Code is invalid.

I have tried this several times and I’m getting increasingly frustrated.

Now, it seems, I can’t even set up my authenticator. I thought perhaps if I reset my authenticator, that would take care of the problem.

This is referring to the Bnet app. You should have migrated from the authenticator only app to the Bnet app, then deleted the authenticator app. It is no longer in use. Check your email for a notice about this, as they’ve been advertising it for a few months now.

I believe battlenet is down.

Battle.net is not down at this time.

Well, I DMed them for help. As I said, I tried following the instructions, but the problem is I’m not seeing what they’re telling me I’m supposed to be seeing.

The instructions tell me I’m supposed to be seeing a prompt asking me to migrate the authenticator, but it isn’t there.

Also, it says that the authenticator will be retired on January 5; ergo it should still be working.

ETA. After dumping my Battlenet and Authenticator and reinstalling, I got it working again.

if they have it’s only been for a select group of people. anyone who plays wow, has the desktop app installed (aka BNET) and if any new announcement is released it shows in a red indicator at the top. my announcement arrived on my bnet app 3 days ago. I didnt not receive any emails - ingame or outside of game.
