Hello, I’m new player and i came for Classic 20th Anniversary Realms
I’m trying to buy bags from Action House, but I get the system message, “That action is currently restricted.”
What or why is that?
In order to combat botting, Blizzard has restricted trade, mail and auctions for new players until a period of 30 days has passed.
It’s quite a rough deal.
it’s 26 days since one purchase of gametime, i believe.
can new players buy bags from crafters?
OMG, this will be a killer for my leveling experience if I can’t even buy bags or needed items for quests
Yes, it’s an example of legitimate gameplay being effectively sabotaged as a side-effect of attempting to combat bots.
general goods vendors in starting zone inns sell bags.
Not really usefull as their bags are WAY more expensive than the AH price.
Maybe if a vast majority of players in classic didn’t cheat with gold buying they wouldn’t need to do this…
But alas. They did
If you’re playing with friends who can use the AH you can get them to buy the bags and trade them to you and you can pay them back later.
As a new account you can’t trade to other players, use the AH, or mail anything to anyone(Including your own dudes).
You can however receive items in trade so if you’re super new and you’re playing with friends they can still support you.
Yea, like my friends can afford to be giving me free stuff, they are all trying to afford their own mounts now. Which I have no idea how I’ll afford without being able to use the AH. Also, when they lifted the restrictions before I was moving a bunch of my extra stuff to my alts, now that they’ve put them back in place I can’t access any of that stuff, at least let me mail between alts. This is the equivalent of a bank freezing my assets.
Also, I’m not a new account, I’ve had this account for over 20 years and have spent money on MANY blizzard products. I only just reactivated wow for the anniversary servers and I am getting punished for coming back.
This seems like some really stupid PR, especially considering this has done nothing to stop botting/gold selling. The people doing that all have accounts that have been subbed long enough to be unaffected, so I cannot comprehend what bliz is thinking.
I’d post in the CS forums.
If you’re a Tailor Enchanter, you can DE all your greens and store the mats until you can sell them on the AH later.
if you’re engi at least you’re good at PVP?
I’m herb/alchemy. I make bank by selling consumables, by the time I’m able to use the AH the consumables I’m making now will be worthless, I might as well vendor them and lose money. This sucks.
Edit: and to be clear I know I can sell my pots I make, what I can’t do is get enough herbs to make the pots I need to profit.
Also, more than anything I wish I could get to mail between my alts, as I had stored a lot of my stuff on alts when they previously lifted the restrictions.
Absolute trash policy.
It was lifted, but apparently it’s now back in. Write a ticket and write on the CS sub forum - it might be an oversight or an error.
I think they should change the restriction. This absolutely kills the new player experience. Basically have to play a single player game for a month.
It should allow using the AH and trade items but not let you receive over a certain amount of gold or certain item level of items.
Not sure where that threshold should be, but that’d allow players to trade low level items and buy bags and quest items and such.
I have it in writing on my last ticket I would not be restricted again after they lifted it last time. If it isn’t corrected (again) this is going to get interesting.
Just got a ‘submit a bug report’ response. Yeah, this ain’t it y’all. You need to have open communications between Devs and GMs.
Same, I was just told by a GM I shouldn’t have restrictions and to submit a bug report but they couldn’t do anything themselves.
Sure, I can tell friends to send me bags. But what about when I need to buy any green item to help me while leveling? I have to browse the AH to find the item with the attribute I want, and then I tell my friend to come to the city just to buy it and trade it to me, and I need to do that every time? every couple of levels!! It’s like wasting my friend’s time, and also there is a chance he buys something different than what I exactly wanted, maybe the same equipment but with a higher price, etc.
And what about those new players who don’t have friends, or their friends are broke, so they should just struggle because they can’t use their own gold? This is really weird, as if they must play the first month as if it’s a single player game and they need to skip the quests that require certain crafted items from other players because they won’t be able to buy that from the other players.
This is really a weird situation if I can’t even buy health potions, and it is really destroying any newcomer experience.
