I feel the new video uploaded on YouTube is exactly what WOW and the community needed. It was refreshing to see this type of format where Ion had the floor to explain what’s going on in the game and in the minds of those working on the game. I found this way more helpful and even engaging than those Q and A sessions from before. Hopefully we can get more of these in the future.
Thanks Ion (and company).

And Lore wasn’t in that video. Coincidence?

It seems that a lot more gets done when Ion flies solo in these types of videos. Lore is a community manager, correct? I’m sure he has plenty of other things to tend to.

He still avoided some topics, like how he avoided the issues with the current catchup gear systems by talking about catchup in general, as in, how not having to progress through Uldir, then BoD, then CoS to get to the 8.2 raid is a good thing – something literally everyone but Kyle agrees with and was not what people have been talking about.
But overall, yeah, it was decent. Less lawyer-speak than usual.

Kaplan’s solo Overwatch videos were a decent success so perhaps they’re taking a page out of that book. Ion still didn’t address a lot of things but it felt…slightly better, at least.

I feel there should be no catch up. It helps reserve the sense of MMORPG progression.
Make sure to thank them AFTER they fulfill their promises.
They pull this “We’re aware of X issues and are working on it” every single interview, Q&A, Christmas special, stream, Blizzcon and anything in between.

It’s a lot better without Lore being there, either failing to be funny or failing to paraphrase what Ion just said.
While I’m glad Ion addressed class design, despite doubling down for years, I need to see the results of his newfounded position before I can give him any shred of praise.
Also, didn’t care about him side-stepping the catch-up issue. There’s giving away 400 ilvl gear like hotcakes, and then there’s giving people a 415 weapon just for logging in, not even running a normal raid.

I’m thanking them for the video itself more than its actual content, despite some of the explanations. I just feel this format works much better.
I’m not kissing their toes, I’m simply giving credit where it’s due.
Regardless I’m excited to try 8.2. BFA is probably the expansion I’ve played the least but the upcoming patch actually looks decent.
This makes me want to log around on alts and like this comment more than once.

He needs to stand more when he speaks . His using his hands while talking made him look like he had a pulse instead of the usual sit down blank look of the Q&As
He probably wanted to show more enthusiasm in this video since it’s kind of a big deal.
The video was worthless. They regurgitated the same statements they made in every video leading up to this one. Pick any interview from the last year and it’ll be like this one. Except it’ll have Lore in it for some reason.

Why would anyone thank the person who has nearly destroyed this product? I’ll thank him when he finds a new job.

There should be a catch up but it should be the previous raid tier. You shouldn’t ever get heroic content gear while heroic content is still valid. Unless your raiding it.
I agree. It was reassuring to know that he agrees with a lot of things the community would like to see changed. I think it’s too late for BfA but I’m going to look at the 9.0 announcement with interest.
actions speak louder than words
this sort of thing has been said before so i will wait and see. not gonna get all happy and celebrate just yet.
(though if he fixed druids form/xmog issue i’d write a personal i’m sorry i’m such a jackass letter. and mean it!)

All this doubt is warranted. I still hope they get this game back on track.

Ion dont forget alot of ppl dont raid. You should be able to pvp without worrying about raid gear. Quests matter…make them fun and leveling engaging, alot of ppl like to be alone and quest and enjoy the immersion.
Dont forget char options .and dont foget garrisons…not everything is raid raid raid. be creative or get a designer to help you wow isnt world of raidcraft…dont forget all the millions of other things that make wow unique and creative not just raid/gear/raid gear. AND SPEC’S should be very unique
