It was actually because of a massive exodus of players after they admitted they’d been lying and had never intended to implement flight in that expansion or new content ever again. All the people who had just been hanging on in hopes that they would bring back flying quit.
That’s what it takes for complaints to be heard: a massive number of players quitting over that issue. Without that they just ignore complaints.
The announcement that the cat wasn’t going to be available in LFR was provided in response to a forum comment, the acknowledgment of dungeon bugs was done in a player-created thread on the forums, and the ending of the Winds of Wisdom Buff was done in a Community Council Thread.
It’s hard to say how much they are listening, but there are examples of them reading our feedback and responding.
I guess I might as well ask…how do you define listening? Because I would consider seeing/reading our comments as “listening” and responding to them as “communicating”
Because of substantial loss of sub revenue more like it. There were a lot of players that quit over that stupidity and never came back. It was more Ion saying “it’s coming” for months, and then saying “never” on a third party website.
But these issues are nothing like that.
Slim cat - they never specifically announced it was going to be available in LFR. People saw a mistake in the achievement and assumed.
Soar - in development, in other words “subject to change”.
XP buff - was announced to end on a specific date.
You may not like it, and you should let them know. All I’m saying is don’t count on change just because you think something is bad. Sometimes the big picture is hard to see.
Lord knows I was here screaming “dumpster fire” during the “Legion 2.0” BfA actually was regarding open world content, I quit for a year. And then came shadowlands and Callings. Blizzard didn’t listen… but it hasn’t ruined my game, I’m still here carrying on.
Here’s how it appeared to have happened at the time.
There were many pro-flight threads in the forum, many very constructive and civil. There were a great many rude anti-flight trolls posting in support of removal of flight and repeating the many times debunked rationales. Through creative moderation, the pro-flight threads were promptly removed and even the most insulting anti-flight threads were not. It’s almost as though they figured that this action would somehow convince many millions of players who never visited the forums to accept meekly that flight is bad for their souls.
They also flat out lied and said flight was going to be put in at a later date. It was not until they did an interview that Blizzard came out and said there would be no flying. Players had to find out from a 3rd party site.
When the pre-patch hits in either November or December, the amount of XP required to level from 1 to 60 is being reduced by 56%, so in essence, it’s already coming soon anyway.
