So I tried to make a thread about this question, but did a terrible job of it. I don’t so much care about bots I can’t see in the course of my gameplay (not saying they’re good or even harmless, and don’t care about persons who would try to twist my words) but IF THE BOT IS ACTIVELY DISRUPTING A LEVELING ZONE, WILL I GET BANNED FOR DISRUPTING THEM, possibly using tactics that would constitute harassment if I was using them against human players? If the human checks their bot log the next day and sees I was fearing their targets to try to lure their bots into hostile territory and confuse their AI/ML, and they report me, WILL I GET BANNED FOR IT?
And to those who say it won’t make a difference, it worked shockingly well. The bots started to compensate for bad measurements and failed to maintain their efficiency, leaving many mobs for real players to farm. That’s ALL I care about.
Oh, and so, so obviously, I collect detailed notes about bot behaviors and reactions and submit those observations as part of a cheating report.
Also also, I think Blizzard would do well to consider a tiered urgency system where enforcement is concerned. Bots that actively disrupt human questing or farming should get priority IMO, for a variety of reasons including just simple PR.
Imagine if they cared about BRD rogue bots or hunters that bot jump runs all day.
Imagine if this world never had infectious pathogens. Seriously quit being a baby. There are mkore important things at the end of the day.
I have reported many, and gotten several in game mails telling me they were dealt with.
But, they HAVE to investigate because if not some trashy person would start reporting people for “funsies”.
In your report, make sure to fille the text box out with enough info fo rthem to compare… i.e Botting Hinterlands killing wolves. They get on two days later and the dudes records show he’s killed 3,000 wolves… or better yet, they are still there killing them? Buh Bye… I’m sure they have software they enter theuser’s character name in and it parses logs for repetitive actions.
My sure fire way of knowing it’s a bot? Insta-cast a mob JUST before they attack it. Then watch it kill the mob for you…,. Do that 3-4 times… .its a bot. Also watch for patterns… movements that are precise angles, always drink after each pull, inspect and look for odd gear like level 5 main weapon on a hunter, or even starter items, missing slots.
Before reporting, I first follow them, I try to communicate with the bot, and I look for a pattern and look at their gear. Most of the time their gear is not for their class.
Gray gear of cloth on druids is an example. Also once a bot is done with a task, they do a quick reset which seems to be a quick jump or a movement. I try to include a lot of details about the bot, zone, coordinates, name or names of bots, what their behavior is. I also try to watch for 5 to 10 minutes and include realm, and realm time at the time of the report. Once I have included all the information I screenshot it and sent it off. I have gotten thank you notes from Blizzard once they confirm they are botting.
/who rogue blackrock depths
yea my server has 8 58 boosted rogues obviously just botting in prepatch in BRD they have better things to do
i mean you kinda do nothing about it so whats the point you just let us down time and time again
A Blizzard bot telling us that they care about stopping botting… You peons know that blizzard fired 96% of their employees to “Reduce Production Costs” right? lol they dont care about you nerds hahahahha
Thank you and I hope these bots get found and banned
Well there’s still a lot of bots…
Just making a post to renew my logs
hey i feel thios is simprotant
How bout you make it where i dont have to have the player targeted to report them. cause after awhile chat wont let you do jack squat for reporting, it wont even show you the Option TO report the player.
Fix that crap.
