If you’ve followed Bellular for any amount of time, you’ll see he posted a video highlighting Activision Blizzard laying off employees; making way for more profits.
This is not the Blizzard I grew up with. This is Activision wearing a Blizzard skin. I’ve played this game since early Wrath Of The Lich King, I am aware people have been playing longer, however I believe as someone who has played just as consistently that my beliefs are valid. I’ve never seen World Of Warcraft as one giant moneygrab. While i’ve stayed in this game as loyal as possible for years, I now see that there is no other option but to quit. The only way to return the favor of Activision destroying our beloved World Of Warcraft is to destroy the numbers they treasure so much. I know as my subscription approaches the end of its cycle for its final time, I will be leaving the game I once sought out for entertainment, but in its final moments I only sought out for the familiar world — filled with unfamiliar faces.
I will always have this heavy feeling in my chest over the people i’ve met along the way. I knew players who had terminal illnesses. I knew players who had mental illnesses. I knew many players that became part of my daily routine — I became attached to interacting with them on a daily basis. There was never closure before seeing their offline counter go from days to years. If one of you are reading this, thank you for the journey.
You do realize the irony of you posting a video from a Streamer/youtuber/whatever, who is sensationalizing something for profit, while talking about Acti-Blizzard being all about profit now?
That is what these rumor-mongering streamers do.
I have been anticipating the bottom falling out of that market, as it did with Internet advertising back in the day. What happened was, companies realized they were paying a LOT but they were not receiving more of a return.
Think what will happen with Youtube and Twitch, when companies realize that again. They won’t be paying them as much, so they (youtube/twitch) won’t be paying their “content providers” as much; I can’t wait until these people have to get “jobs.”
First, nothing the streamer says has been substantiated. When will people realize the streamers are outrageous and make totally false statements for one reason, to get more views hence more money. It’s sad that others are so gullible as to let nonsense sway their own decision making process.
I trust Kotaku. They do good reporting, even if their opinion articles veer way left from time to time.
I also think that when streamers like Bellular say “don’t buy this bundle,” it’s worth listening to, especially considering how pro-wow they were at the beginning of BFA.
You also realize the irony of saying this about a streamer who spent the first month or so of this expansion all but white knighting. As WOW commentators go, Bellular is pretty darn optimistic and benefit-of-the-doubt in general.
I wonder how it feels to Ion and the developers to know that it isn’t the work they are doing which is responsible for people staying subbed, but the work of those previously in positions of leadership.
I wouldn’t really look for others opinions, it’s mostly your own outlook and decisions that you should be trusting.
And did you know belluar released 5 videos in a 48 hour period of Blizzcon? He jumps on anything and everything and turns it into ‘content’
So, he didn’t mean what he said. He didn’t leave because:
“He posted a video highlighting Activision Blizzard laying off employees; making way for more profits.”
Because that would be rather embarrassing - since - they haven’t laid anyone off.
Oh, it must be because of the intolerable “Moneygrab” - a store mount or a pet who’s proceeds go to a charity or the bundle of mounts and pets and cosmetic helms. Since a) Blizzard’s been doing this every year since Wrath of the Lich King, b) all the store items are cosmetic and have ZERO impact on your gameplay and c) they can all be bought with in-game gold - this makes no sense either.
