My main is a Hunter, only 3 DPS specs. You’re currently posting from a Paladin which has all three roles lol. >.< I think it’s just lame that you have to regrind for those that other classes had it easier to obtain. Especially when you weren’t even given the option of picking up those essences in the first place. If they wanted to implement a role restrictive system, they should have given us the option to choose whether we wanted the DPS, Healing, or Tanking essence. Even if our class doesn’t have those roles. Then we couldn’t complain about this right now. But our hands were tied.

If you didn’t even want to do it in the first place, why did you do it? Why would anyone spend leisure time doing something they dislike?
I agree that its silly that having one rank 3 of a dps/heal/tank split essence doesn’t give access to dps/heal/tank essences with the same unlock requirement. It just punishes players that aren’t maining druid/pally/monk for no discernible reason. It goes against the reason the change was needed to begin with.
Yeah but then you’d get people making the mistake of choosing a tank essence for a dps class because they are a noob and it looks like a shiny boost to their power.
I am really surprised they decided to unlock the mechagon and nazjatar rep ones. Like, how can they even call it account-wide if I only ever have to unlock rank 3 purification protocol in order to get nullification dynamo rank 3 and well of existence rank 3 unlocked account-wide? That’s beyond account-wide. Account-wide PLUS ULTRA.
So you play a class that didn’t have to worry about farming essences for multiple roles, and are now upset that you don’t have access to those essences that you didn’t farm for?

Because I love m+ and how I can just sit down and do it whenever I want w/o a raid schedule etc. I enjoy the RPG element of the game of getting to decide which essences I’d like to go with for what affix and what spec I’m playing as. So I went and unlocked essences in content I didn’t like because I wanted more options to choose from when doing the content I like.
Not once did I ever complain about that.

If it’s any consolation op I can see your point, my dps druid has learnt loads of essences for all specialisations and you grinded just as much as I did.
Badly designed as this system is, all this information was available on their mid-week post when they first announced this catch up system. They specifically said only the Nazj/Mech essences would be open to all roles. I understand your frustration, but I figure it would have come up last week when they announced this, not as a surprise today.

I think it’s lame, but it also makes sense.
The system doesn’t really apply to me as I have already done essences on the characters I want to play but I’ve mained a hunter that could use DPS essences for all its specs without any extra effort. No extra grind at all.
However on my Paladin I’ve had to get the mats for my tank spec (and I never bothered with my healer spec).
So I had it easy on my hunter spec, I can’t expect it easy now that we can share essences should I have just played my hunter.
You’re on Alliance, you don’t have to worry about groups

Yeah but it’s not really an issue. It’s unexpected that we can get the mechagon and nazjatar ones without earning them. That’s more than anyone should feel entitled to. Blizz gave us a big big bonus there. This way I don’t have to grind out three times as many spare crates and galvanic oscillators. Nazjatar isn’t as difficult since I don’t waste pearls on benthic gear, but mechagon currency is a huge grind.
It’s likely the Naz/Mechagon ones were made easy because they already had a significant cost reduction for other essences once you had one R3.

Yeah but that’s not an account wide reduction. So say I earn rank 3 on my hunter, as that’s what I am closest to. My pally would still need to pay full price for the healing essence. I could get the tanking essence on my pally, but prior to account wide being announced it would have just been a waste of time as my pally is not a tank. So my warrior would have had to grind it out at full cost, as my warrior doesn’t dps.

Yeah I am absolutely thrilled they decided to do this with naz/mech essences. It’s a huge huge huge huge reduction of grind for me.

Yes, you’re lucky you’re a druid. I wish I had mained my druid this expansion.
This whole system is in place to make alt making easier, but for some it only helps us make alts of the same role.
shadow is a dps spec which means you unlock the dps essences equivalent to the healer ones, as in if you unlock the rep essence from mechagon for healer, you can buy with echoes the dps version
