Thank You For Not Putting a Mythic-Only Phase in the Fyrakk Fight

I have always considered Mythic-only phases to be a waste of development resources. It’s something that very, very few people ever see in-game. The rest of the crowd just sees it on Twitch or YouTube.

On that note, thank you for not spending unnecessary resources on creating a Mythic-only phase for Fyrakk. I hope to see that continue in the future. It’s always a good thing when resources are spent on things that benefit more than a tiny fraction of players.

I agree, people pay the same for this game so they should get the same care no matter what mode they prefer. It would be like not letting people see the whole place in +15, making special rooms for bosses to go into and do some extra thing for 20+, this doesn’t happen and that’s a good thing.

I’d agree if it was apparent that they were spending their development resources elsewhere, which to me it isn’t. It just feels like we get a bit less per patch now than ever. I think DF will have the least total raid bosses of any expac.

That’s fair, although I’d argue we’d get even less if they focused on putting in a Mythic-only phase.

Ion has stated nothing big goes into this stuff.

And I like secret phases from a viewer perspective.

I think stuff like that and the way the new legendaries enter into the game from the first region mythic kill are pretty cool. It’s that kind of mythical stuff you used to hear about back in vanilla when there was still some mystery to the game.

I usually get CE though so I’m also in the small fraction that would get something neat. I think everyone should get something neat though mythic raiders included.

I always thought they were cool. Me and my co workers were theorizing who was gonna show up to the fight.

The mythic only phase, is like the only content in the entire game specifically geared towards mythic raid players. So I have always been ok with it.

One small phase in one fight isnt going to be any resources they’d be applying elsewhere.

Hasn’t Blizzard said that Mythic is the actual conclusion to the expansion. This is why there are Mythic only phases that add more narrative to the final, like the phase were Archimonde pulls the group into the Twisting Nether, and because he dies there he is permanently dead.

I would say thank you too but I don’t worry/care about stuff that doesn’t effect me.

Edit: “affect me?” I’m so bad at knowing which one to use.

Ion has stated a lot of things that never end up holding true, so I tend to take his statements with a pillar of salt.

FF14 still does it and they are getting weirder and weirder lol:

Never thought I’d see a boss grab their own…yeah, followed by tentacles wrapping around…you know what, I’m just going to stop typing and concur with your “weirder” statement.

I feel like if they added a difficulty-only phase, it should be for both heroic and mythic. I think a pretty good chunk of raiders are able to clear heroic by the end of a raid’s life cycle.

Mythic should just be about doing a boss perfectly, not necessarily doing some whacky secret phase.

This is how I feel about Mythic raiding in general. It’s content made for a very small percentage of the playerbase.

Just remove Mythic raiding and add optional Uldular style hard modes to fights in Heroic.

Well it’s in theme with the raid storyline and the prior wings of Pandaemonium. Look at P8S transition:

To each their own. He’s been candid on stuff regarding development and inner blizzard stuff. But I’m not here to convince anyone so  :night_with_stars:

I think it depends where the genesis of the mythic only phase comes from. Blizzard designs mythic difficulty first then cuts things away for the lower difficulties. If after creating the boss including the mythic phase they didn’t think they could tune that phase for heroic and decided to cut it, then no extra dev time was spent on it. I do agree if a phase is added with the complete knowledge it would only exist on mythic.

I dig secret phases if they’re achievable for pretty much anyone.

Microsoft has more annual free cash flow than the entire pre-buyout market capitalization of Activision. They can afford to make mythic only phases if they want to. Their gaming budget is obviously a subset of their business, but it’s literally a rounding error of a rounding error to them. Having chase content is good for games, because it makes the game world seem more interesting and motivates players that there’s cool secrets and payoffs waiting for them if they master the game. But really they probably don’t even care that much about WoW or Blizzard because they’re minor components of Activision, and the buyout was primarily to acquire the IP for CoD and candy crush.
