Why am I here
Our brains take time to process sensory information, so we’re never truly “in the present”. Everything we see, hear, or feel has already happened by the time our brain interprets it, even if it’s just by milliseconds. Essentially, we’re always experiencing the past, not the “now,” because the present moment is gone before we can consciously perceive it. It’s another difference between the physical reality of time, and the way in which we measure and interpret it.

The time it takes for your brain to process anything, even if it only takes a few milliseconds, means it’s in the past. The existence of the present is an illusion and we can never actually experience it. We can only experience the past.
So really it’s kind of silly when people tell you that you’re living in the past. Literally everyone is.
