blizzard is terrible at developing and keeping servers up… oh wait you said wrong and extremely unbelievable.

“they” (not blizzard) want the servers to be deleted so that we can all panic over the Election results.
They accidentally pressed the “delete” button when trying to hide the HC tab. Now they’re scrambling to figure out how to recover the lost servers and/or what to tell all the players whose characters got deleted.
