I know this will sound silly.
I made a Tauren Resto Shaman alt last week and I channeled that character in my mind with a client today and she was extremely happy with the session. Said it was the best massage of her life and I have a true gift of touch. She already booked another massage for when she comes back from Italy.
I didn’t splash water on her or anything, don’t worry.

As I massaged her I imagined I was a peaceful Tauren helping to heal someone in need, that’s all. The imagination is very powerful. It put me in a state of peace, like a type of meditation.

Is that a reference to something? I don’t get it.

Not weird at all, reaching a meditative state helps attune your touch to the client’s body far more deeply than idle conversation. Anatomy/physiology knowledge, physical technique, and energetic intuition combine to offer a more profound massage/healing session. Alternatively, I’ve done counting meditation, prayer, and silent mantras to achieve that state of mental concentration. Embodying a Tauren Shaman video game character isn’t all that different lol, you do what works for you!
I have never and would never, my license and integrity are far more important to me. Professional massage therapy still has that stigma associated with it, and honestly I wish that would go away. It turns off potential clients from what is an incredibly therapeutic modality of healing. It’s even more difficult for male massage therapists, but I’m fortunate that I’ve build a strong reputation in my county for being a professional.

A massage from the hoofs of a 1,500 lb bull. Who wouldn’t want that?
