Yay!!!
Firstly a huge thank you to blizzard for listening and re adding more previously long time unavailable pets, I am so excited to find this news today. These are the kind of pets I had envisioned for the Trading Post. Things like this that are old competition/achievement etc pets that most of us weren’t around for or missed out on.
And this specific model is gorgeous and something NA/OCE have never had access to outside of the original event (other countries had them as other promo event pets) meaning it is unique and I love him
Secondly, everyone save up your tendies accordingly

Makes you wonder what might show up next.
Spectral Tiger Cub is coming in July.
Yep, but they previewed July & August, and the Spirit will be coming in August ^^
Having this one already means, hopefully, I’ll save enough tendies to (for the first time) afford whatever I’ve frozen from July’s items.
Back in 2008 when they first had the Spirit of Comp pet in game I tried and tried for that pet …never got it…then came 2012 and blizzard didn’t offer it up again with the Olympias going in England…so I am glad they are offering it up in TP next month…
I just picked up my Spectral Tiger Cub today. Not sure how I feel about it.
That was once an ultra rare pet, and among the most expensive, if not the most expensive on the AH. And now I have it for doing literally nothing.
I only reactivated my account on the 30th of June, and I had 60 tendies, 5 short to buy Buzzworth. I didn’t think I was going to make it in time to buy the Bee pet, so I froze it.
Then I logged in, hearthed to SW, and picked up my monthly allotment and not only did I have enough for Buzzworth, but I got the Spectral Tiger Cub, too. Once the most expensive pet in the game, and now I have it for doing literally nothing.
Doesn’t seem right somehow.

Does sort of suck for the folks that spent a lot of gold buying one off AH, and for the AH sellers too. At least the Trading Post version isn’t cageable so doesn’t totally compete with the original Spectral, which itself started off non-tradeable but went tradeable a few years later.
Last year’s Twitch Promotion pet, the Dragon Kite, is same sort of thing. One from Twitch can’t be caged while the one from Trading Card redemption stays tradeable.
Will be interesting to see what’s still coming from the Trading Post.

I look at it like most things. I spent a bunch of gold because that’s what I wanted to spend it on at the time. I don’t really care that it’s on the trading post for tenders instead.
Buying something for gold/irl money isn’t a prestige item in the world of pet battles. Dungeon pets, family achievement pets, and so on, are. This is why I was mildly upset that the dungeon title from the Blackrock Depths Dungeon, ‘Minion of Mayhem’, is bugged to now be rewarded by crafting Carpal in SLs. I did the BRD pet dungeon on the PTR and pre-nerf and it was an absolute nightmare, (still is in some regards iirc). It is literally the only title I wear and on one character, but crafting carpal has now lessened the meaning of it for me. Purchasing things, with any kind of currency in-game or out, doesn’t evoke those feelings for me.
Interesting! I’d love additional confirmation on this so I can properly update WarcraftPets, but I can’t check for myself. Haven’t purchased the Trading Post version since I already own the original. If someone could post a screenshot of the Trading Post version of the Spectral Tiger Cub in the Pet Journal, I’d appreciate it
I’d share my screen cap, but it seems I can’t post pictures.
Tysm!
(updating WarcraftPets with this info)
If you lack the ability to directly post links (requires Trust Level 3), then highlight your URL and click the </> icon above where you are typing.
That will allow the whole URL to be posted (albeit without the ability to click it directly). It will look similar to this:
www.worldofwarcraft.com
Then anyone wanting to visit the link can merely copy/paste your link.
I also note that (at least the trading post version) of Spectral Tiger Cub is not a unique pet. If you want three, you can get three.
You can have up to 3 Spectral Tiger Cubs but the Trading Post won’t sell you more than 1 of the non-cageable version. Sort of the same thing as with Pippin, earlier Trading Post pet, although Pippin was truly unique so could be coded as a 1 of 1 pet.
You’ll notice that Trading Post Spectral also cannot be released, which is normal for 1 of 1 pets.

But it can’t be caged though and sold …where is the other one that comes from the TCG card can be caged and sold.
Would seem they coded the TP tiger cub wrong then…it shows in my stable I can have up too 3 …can’t release it or cage it either…
I’d guess that it’s because of however pets in the Pet Journal are defined internally. Seems like they could flag just one of a group with the same pet name as non-cageable but the whole group had to show same limit in how many you could have. It’s a common dilemma with system design, you thought you’d covered every possibility and then something new came along.
I happened to have two of the original Spectrals when the new version hit the Trading Post this month. You can see my screenshots in an earlier post to this thread. One is non-cageable and can’t be released, earlier two can be traded or released. I just double-checked and Trading Post refuses to sell me another one even though I do have the Tender for it.
