This is a new issue i’ve found after the most recent update. It doesn’t happen always, but sometimes when I open my collections tab, specifically the appearances tab, my game will freeze and then bug out all the textures and icons turning them green and grey. A /reload fixes everything, but a couple minutes later I’ll go to open my collections or tmog and it does it all over again. It is not an issue with addons as I’ve disabled them and it still occurs. Again, never had this issue before until 11.1.7 dropped. I’ve seen some remedies like switching to Directx11 instead of 12 but that only helps for a little bit.
The same thing is happening to me. Let me know if you find a solution. I’ve done the same as you listed above. Even deleted Curse Forge
Im Having the same problem
I’ve been having a similar issue. Usually when there’s a lot going on graphically, like a big AoE pull in a dungeon or sometimes if I fly into Dornogal near the bank, my entire screen glitches and goes black with the exception of some of the text. I usually have to force clise it through Task Manager and re-open WoW. I happened a couple of days ago right as my group pulled the final boss of Shrine of Storms.
been happening since 11.1.7 dropped. There are dozens of threads about it at this point. Something is causing graphics drivers to crash when the game decides it needs to re-render models and/or environmental effects. Sadly, the easiest way to have to re-render is to open collection or transmog features since those have to re-render your character model.
You can try switching from DX12 to 11 or adjusting/disabling Anti-aliasing, but so far we haven’t found anything that consistently fixes the problem in the various threads for this issue.
Hopefully, Blizz will eventually revert or fix whatever graphical update they packaged with 11.1.7 so this stops happening. Because it seems to be getting progressively worse and worse every day.
Thank you man! Switching from DX12 to 11 fixed the issue for me. For now……
same thing here as well. and i just upgraded from my laptop to a new pc. no issues any other games. ryzen 7 9700x 32 gb ddr5 ram rtx 5060 8gb. seems sporadic. started on the laptop continued less frequently on the new pc
Same problem here. It started after 11.1.7 came out.
I’m experiencing the same issue, which started after the 11.1.7 update and seems to have surfaced within the last week. When I use my Grizzly Pack mount to access the transmog, or open the Collections interface, or use the Transmog NPC in the city, the problem occurs. I’ve cleared my cache, disabled and cleaned out addons, and updated my graphics drivers. The issue temporarily resolves but then reappears within the same play session.
What happens is that the collections/transmog UI slowly loads or freezes, my character disappears while the mount remains, and various landscape objects also vanish. Occasionally, I see green markers pop up. Despite using Bug Sack and Bug Grabber, no bugs are reported when this occurs, which suggests (maybe) it’s not an addon-related issue.
Same issue for me as well, I open up my appearance tab and as soon as I try to flip through it my graphics crash. Thought it might’ve been a server population problem, but it persists on both of the servers I play on.
Been seeing this a lot. Open the collection’s tab and the game gets like a blue overlay, freezes for a few seconds, and then all the textures reload in.
Don’t think it’s an addon issue as I’ve disabled them and it still occurs. I’ve seen it once in combat, not sure what is happening.
Had the same issue changing to directx 11 fixed it and the final cutscene graphics glitch freeze forme.
Went to the Mogg guy just now, appearance tabs open, but before a whole page of appearances can load, the graphics crash, including the world, and it reloads. It starts doing it again, and then just loops. Starts to load appearances, crashes, starts to load appearances, crashes, etc…
I’ve posted this in a few of these threads. Based on various success/failure reports from others including myself
Best suggestions I can give:
- Check graphics settings and make sure your actual correct graphics card is selected and not set to “Auto detect”. For some reason the 11.1.7 patch added options for it to potentially use on-board graphics on the motherboard instead of the actual installed GPU (probably the biggest culprit I’ve seen)
- Make sure your graphics driver is updated
- Switch Graphics API to DirectX 11 instead of auto or DirectX 12
- Do a scan & Repair on WoW
If those don’t work, Then from top to bottom of the graphics options window:
- Disable VSync
- Try different Anti-Aliasing options
- Try different Resample Quality settings
- Disable Optional GPU Features
- Disable Multithread Rendering
- Disable Advanced Work Submit
Might have to mix & match various setting configs to see if you can find a sweet spot setup that stops the graphics driver crashes. I ended up having to do pretty much all of them before it stabilized for me.
Beyond that, probably not a lot that can be done from our end until Blizz and/or NVidia figure something out and take actual action on the problem.
Good luck
It does indeed seem to be affecting Nvidia setups. I have a 1650ti and have ALWAYS ran it max settings without a hiccup. Since the Evil Patch, graphics keep crashing and reloading, no matter the combination. (So far.)
This is so clearly a Blizz-end Oopsie, and it just feels so insulting that they try to gaslight. Even a “Hey, something went wrong on certain card configurations, and we are actively finding a solution. Until then users should try ABC and XYZ to mitigate the issue until we find a final fix.”
NOT: “Nothing to see here. All is well, Move along now.”
Same thing here, it’s now Aug 20th. I took a long break, about 4 months. Just jumped back on and everything yall have been saying, has been happening to me. I could run everything max settings and have no problems before I took my break. Any updates for fixing this problem?
Same thing is happening to me! No fix found yet on my end.
Hello, very nice to find this thread and find out its because of my PC that this is happening. Currently playing on a gaming laptop which is not ideal but with a RTX 3050 that can run most modern games with little to no issues.
Tried re-installing, deleting all add-ons, did most of the graphic changes mentioned in this thread and so far nothing has fixed the problem. It’s gotten worse over time as well, back when it began it happened mostly when I opened the collections tab in main cities (which is most of the times tbh), to now which is basically a 50/50 shot all over world and 100% of the times in main hubs.
