Texture bug problem!

I am having this random texture display issue. In this example it’s obviously the background of this window, but I’m experiencing the same issue randomly on models…like my shaman’s shoulders, the sales of boats, carts, etc. I’ve installed the latest Nvidia drivers and that didn’t fix it. Should I re-install wow? Maybe a file got corrupt some how?

ok well this stupid form won’t let me include a link in my post so I’m not sure how I am supposed to show you the screenshot I took to get help…

Hey Devok,

Thanks for the screenshot. This looks like it could be a file corruption issue or possibly a rendering issue. If you haven’t already I’d definitely recommend doing a Scan and Repair, which would be just as good as reinstalling the game.

Go ahead and post your DXDIAG as well.

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. In the Run window type dxdiag and press Enter.
  3. In the DirectX window, click Save All Information.
  4. Name the file “dxdiag” and save it to your Desktop. Open the new dxdiag file with Notepad.
  5. In the posting section here hit the </> button for “Preformatted text” then paste (Ctrl+V) the DXDIAG contents. That’ll make the information much more readable.

If you are unable to post this due to the length of the DXDIAG, please feel free to use pastebin.com and share the link with us instead. Use the </> button as well in order to share the link.

Thanks for the link!

Two things that I’d recommend:

First, lets make sure to try resetting the UI which will remove any addons if you are using any.

Next, try wiping the existing Nvidia driver using Display Driver Uninstaller and then grab the latest Nvidia hotfix driver which is 445.78.

  1. Download DDU here
    • Click on the first link under “Announcements” titled Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). Then click the “Official Download Here” link to start the download.
  2. Run the .exe file and extract the contents to the default location. Open the new folder and run the Display Driver Uninstaller.
  3. You will get a pop-up saying it is recommended to reboot in Safe Mode, feel free to ignore this if you are not familiar with how to get into Safe Mode. To start the removal process, click on “Clean and restart”
  4. Once the PC restarts, go ahead and download the current drivers here: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5009/kw/445.78
  5. Run the driver installer and use the default/recommended install steps.
