Testing Paladins

Saw this blue post…either worried about us being guinea pigs, or hopeful. A little of both.

Hotfix Testing with Paladin Class – August 22 - In Development / Dragonflight Alpha Test - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

They did this back in MoP on live, if I remember right; they replaced one talent with Cavalier, which I don’t think has changed since then. It worked for most players, but some people still could only see/activate the old talent in their client UI.

If nothing else, it means there are potentially more paladin changes coming, and people on Alpha during this test will preview some of those.

Caustiously optimistic, but still tenative.

What does this mean exactly? they are saying there will be temporary talents and that it will return to how it was before? Are we getting some changes or not? Not sure what this means but if someone can clarify I would appreciate it. And if there are changes please someone with alpha keep us updated!

They might be testing the ability to push a change that usually requires a patch as a hotfix. They might be pushing some paladin stuff that’s slated for tomorrow’s patch as a hotfix to test the system.

We’re not getting any permanent changes during this hotfix testing process.
They’ll be returning stuff to how it was.

Though i did try to fish on EU’s blue post:
“But are some of those talents you’re adding, talents that you’re considering? Or really random stuff.”

To see if anything they try could end up on a future build… but no answer, sadly.

Hopefully it means their silence has been because they have ripped apart the entire class and rebuilt it from the bottom up, with identity and desirability in mind.

Realistically though they are probably going to just make AW baseline to give us extra points to spend on our 4 talents for Divine Steed.

Do we know what some of the random changes have been during this test?

I’m not that optimistic.

Radio silence as far as I know.

This has nothing to do with us specifically. It’s about them being able to update more stuff after launch without needing patches to be downloaded and installed, basically.

So basically because they have already screwed our class in DF they might as well use it as a testing ground to see if pushing auto updates works or breaks the class further?
Nice!

I’ll cop to it here, if this leads to thought out, player conscious, defendable changes I will recant my complaints until now.

I understand that this will most likely lead nowhere, but I am genuinely hopeful.

It’s useful to make sure it works with the class that the hotfixes will be used on the most…
I kid, i kid… or do i? xD

Anyways they added the changes listed last week… partially.
DP is in as a choice node with SoV but it has a 1 min cd.
JV is still 5 HP.
The Divine Toll/Divine Resonance and Ashes to Ashes/Empyrean Endowment talents are switched.

I’ve given feedback on the Alpha forums regarding them and asked if they’re intended like that or just partially implemented… among other feedback.

Just read your post and appreciate your proactivity in all of this. If there are intentional changes in there, minus the bugs, and we eventually see JV removed or remade things might actually be looking…some way lol

I’m OK with it, but Blizzard still hasn’t told us the safe word after eighteen years.

The safe word is “Gee, I sure am happy with these Paladin changes!”

Y’know, something we’re unlikely to say.

Pretty sure it’s not updated still and that they intend DP to be 2 minute CD, with JV costing 3 HP, but just haven’t put that stuff in the game yet.

There’s like, some mixed feelings for some of the new things, like the 25% Judgment proc talents, what’s with that? Do we really need more RNG? Boundless Judgment is cool in theory but putting more RNG into our gameplay when we have a lot of it already? I dunno. I like the idea of having a bit more power on 2 targets, but not like that.

I think the 25% procc chance is their attempt at having Ringing Clarity in the tree. I’m fine with RNG but we need ways to hedge our bets or it’s just not enjoyable.

Id rather have them remove any semblance of ringing clarity. Ret has been defined at least in pvp for 80% of the expansion by that stupid slot machine proc. This new judgement talent, can it proc off itself? Are we gonna see paladins that win the lottery and get 3-4 judgements all crit and oneshotting someone again? Lol
