So I saw they added the items from BWL and ZG to vendors on the PTR so I thought I’d go and fool around a bit with the new set bonuses and playstyle that they encourage and I have some thoughts…
Firstly, and most subjectively, spamming instant cast abilities on the GCD is a little mindnumbing. Until I’m able to raid in this spec, and more people play with it to find where it is most efficient in that manner I’ll reserve full judgement (pun intended) but at initial glance it seems it’ll lean into running a fast 2h, using seal of martyr, and hanging out in melee range. As it only heals your beacon target you’re either gonna be straight up tank healing, or very regularly moving your beacon around as you dps.
Secondly, the damage output on a string of crits is absurd when you consider pvp. Once you get your int to sp buff from shock and awe I was regularly critting over 2k with no other buffs. Popping the ZG trinket and Avenging wrath I was seeing numbers around 2.6 to 2.7k per holy shock. You also have decent melee crit so the potential for solid numbers from exorcism here are also high.
Third, gearing. You’re gonna want more spell power and the casters in the raid are going to absolutely hate you when you say you want X spell damage ring/cloak/neck etc. I don’t want to be that guy (I won’t anyways, gonna use core forged T2) but I really feel for any casters in the future that’ll lose a big accessory item to a healer in dps cosplay.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, is quantity of t2 needed. the set bonuses leading up to the major ones you really do need to make this work (6pc T2 and 3pc ZG) is really a ton of gear. Unless it’s possible for us to spend some currency (maybe embers from BRE?) to swap between core forged and draconic, that’s really way too much gearing before it even comes online in the first place. If I could make one suggestion here to help this, swap the 6pc and 2pc bonuses, then you could start working it out with only 2pc T2 which could be as easy to get as 1 raid. ZG stuff will be quick to get regardless so no real issues there.
