Testing Adding Damage Reduction to PvP

:dracthyr_crylaugh: :dracthyr_lulmao:

Absolute maximum zozzle.

It did effect hunter pet damage.

People were making false information videos showing hunter pet damage (wind serpent) without world buff in pve, then with world buff in pvp and saying it wasn’t effecting the damage.

The world buff added roughtly 25% damage to lightning breath.

In fact, pets were double nerfed. They dealt reduced damage but took full damage. The only time the damage nerf disnt effect pats was the first day or two after the change and was quickly hotfixed.

I don’t think they explicitly said it would work for pets like they did now.

I love this change. It can fix a lot PVE issues too. PVP complaints = PVE nerfs. Yes it will need to be tuned, but I’m ready to beta test it on my hunter. I’ll start with duels vs each class, then bgs and open world PVP. Perhaps a good way to encourage testing might be to offer a small incentive (such as bonus honor).

Anyone on living flame US who would like to test with duels, feel free to msg me ingame @ Smivy

Damage reduction aura 45% less damage done to players

Healing reduction aura reduces healing done to self by 40% unless it is a percentage health heal (most tank/dps self heals are percentage self heals).

This makes healing others still the same value, but self healing is drasticallly reduced to encourage protecting the healer instead of them just bombing themselves with heals and never dieing.

Magic resist? When Warriors are the strongest class in both PvE and PvP? Only Classic melee can completely dominate and still want others to be nerfed.

Itd be impressive to me if you typed this with a straight face.

yeah damage reduction on pets too!

Maybe try to concern balancing problems more before throwing all the OP stuff and think “bUt iTs fUn”

Shaman tanks rejoice. Ele and shieldhance gonna be bonkers in pvp. Unkillable.

Can’t wait to be globaled from a Hunter/Boomkin from 100 yards away. The issue is classes having the ability to global people in 1 gcd. Boomkin/Hunter need a range nerf or this is not going to feel any different

If this becomes a permanent addition you should probably revert the starsurge nerf, spell coefficients and all.

36 yards.

I got an idea… that will fix this, Everyone gets a heal!.. Then everyone gets a shield ability… then everyone gets … full retail

This will be a huge issue for people using mana. We’ll need increased mana regeneration to deal with the longer fights.

This literally does nothing to solve the imbalance in PVP. Spriests, Hunters, Paladins, and Boomkins are by far the most OP in the game right now, and you just buffed all of them. Here’s the simple equation for what this pointless experiment will do (using simplified numbers for illustration):

  1. Overpowered Player (P1) does 700 DPS to Gimp Player (P2), who has 2100 HP. P2 dies in roughly 6 secs (GCD)
  2. Blizzard’s magical HP buff kicks in (gonna assume 20%). The same interaction between P1 and P2 happens:
  3. P1 now does 560 DPS to P2, who still has 2100 HP. P1 now dies in roughly 7.5 seconds.

If certain classes/specs are still doing significantly more damage than others, a blanket reduction to all just means the fights last SLIGHTLY longer. It does not change the encounter in any significant way.

You should also focus attention on the CC that some classes have compared to others. For example, hunters can bottleneck an entire team with a ONE MINUTE large area on the ground that slows you by SIXTY PERCENT. Oh, and you can get chain rooted with the stupid talent, all while getting blown up by the hunter and his pet.

Paladins can hold off an entire team with a 12-second full immunity to EVERYTHING, with NO COUNTER. Oh, and they continue to blast you while immune. Why are there no drawbacks to being fully immune? Wouldn’t it make sense to drastically reduce their damage? When mages Ice Block, they can’t do ANYTHING. Some of these problems have been around since Vanilla and for whatever reason 20 years is not enough time to solve them? It’s like you don’t care about PvP at all.

Massively overdue but thanks for trying. Seeing the pvp > pve transfers open made me think you guys were just giving up on fixing pvp

stongest in both pve and pvp? lol

BGs are already hard carried by healers but sure. I’m not going to enter BGs anymore, I don’t want to revive the P1 slugfest thanks.

Why not just add like 2% damage reduction or resilience on each piece of the PvP gear?!

Please consider reducing healing as well. People will just stack more healers to offset.
