Terrible network lag

I have been getting very bad network lag since pre-patch. It seems worse in instances (dungeons or BGs). Every few minutes or so, intervals can be 2-3 minutes to 15 minutes, I’ll get a terrible network lag where my character cannot complete ANY action, but can still move around. All other characters (players or NPCs) are stuck in their last animation loop for the few seconds the lag lasts (can be 2 seconds to like 60 seconds or more). I’m still able to chat and receive answers from other players while this happens, my FPS do not drop one bit (144fps).

Anyone has been getting that problem? I did a factory reset on my router and tried on another computer, issue persists. Does not happen in other games.

See here same exact issue (EU forums): https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/character-is-lagging-but-chat-is-working-occassionally-in-both-classic-and-retail/535010/1

Not sure who the path to is. And the support article for wow traces is gone. The no response of just means that node doesn’t allow pings.

From netstat 66.40.176.78 seems to be the wow server

Did you run this test for 57 minutes? You only want to run it for about 5 or until the issue happens.

If not, the modem is either reporting a packet flood or you want to use PingPlotter for testing, not WinMTR.

And what should I look for in ping plotter? I see one hop where the ping goes to 200ms whereas all the others are under 30ms.

That’s a loaded question. It’s important to look at the test as a whole. One hop reporting really high ping doesn’t mean much if you don’t see that high ping remaining steady on hops after it or at the final destination IP.

Post the link PingPlotter provides for sharing tests if you want someone to give an opinion on the actual data.

Low frame rate every time I’m in Storm wind, Freezes up then I get a 3-5 frame rate and then it goes back up to normal. Been happening since Remix.

You described exatly the same issue I have since pre-patch. I already tried wire, wifi even with my phone. Sometimes is more, sometime less, but its always there. As you said. I can chat but everything is in loop

Confirm, also getting this same thing… discord, streams everything is fine. It’s only WoW and usually in a BG or Arena setting…

Game just freezes, doesn’t DC you and then rapidly catches up, anywhere between 5-60 seconds. Froze for 2 entire rounds of solo shuffle.

Do you have guild member online/offline alerts displayed in chat? Those are causing a hiccup.

Honestly, I disabled this and haven’t had an issue since, you might be onto something here Elocin.

Excellent. I hope it continues being all good lol

How do I remove those alerts?

It’s not that as I am not in any guild and it effects all 35/37 of my characters. The only ones it doesn’t effect are my demon hunters as they aren’t entering Stormwind.

The one thing that is really odd is that when I use a VPN (tried Nord and Brave) the issue never happens… I also tried WTFast, but it almost makes the issue worst.

Could it be related to my motherboard? Like if the network speed is TOO fast it craps up my network card or something?

This would point to an issue on the route the ISP is using, whereas the VPNs are using different ones.
