Terrain patching

Is the physical terrain from vanilla unpatchable by blizzard? I honestly don’t care about the dungeon cap, however it affects a large amount of players not exploiting dungeons. Isn’t the root of the dungeon exploits a ledge here and that needs raised one more character height to force mobs to reset? You tube shows you exactly where to patch, on the surface it doesn’t seem that complicated to fix. You could even set a tether point for the mobs around the exploited terrain to reset if you can’t patch the terrain. This seems like a more reasonable fix than a blanket cap for all dungeons.

blizzard exists in name only now. activision does everything the corporate way. cheap, fast and with minimal effort as possible. could they do it? sure, but they won’t pay someone to do it since it makes them no money. the blizzard people who cared about the quality of their product no longer work there.

Activision has nothing to do with the development of Blizzard games. Many of the same developers that people praise here for their work on Vanilla WoW still work at Blizzard.

it would take at least months of work to find AND patch each and every possible spot where mobs could be kited for terrain abuse in instances
and then that’d lead to the level design being… sterilized

the only other solution i could think of to nip instanced terrain exploits in the bud would be enabling mobs to run up 90-degree and 180-degree slopes, though not thin air, in order to chase you, and without hesitation, and that wouldn’t be very nice either, but it’d probably be a ton less work than meticulously sterilizing every dungeon and raid’s terrain, which requires trained eyes to do
trained eyes that I doubt blizzard has right now

Why do you all hate on del when he just states his opinion?

Is an opinion fueled by hate and negative rhetoric worth more around this forum?

Looks that way

The easiest patch would be the numerous bosses you can watch on you tube on how to force pathing to defeat mechanics. IMO you don’t need trained eyes when there are hundreds of videos posted online from both classic, vanilla, and pirate servers showing the terrain exploits. Just seems kind of lazy to slap on dungeon limit when the root is exploiting terrain and pathing.

Blizzard could just park a couple axe throwers in each tiger and crock pack, range mobs like that would just delte the fly botting mage farming issue instantly.

Huh, almost sounds as if the 30 instance cap isn’t intended to solve this problem, since your easier solution not only exists, is something they have done in the past, and they chose not to do it.

The root cause is terrain pathing exploits to motivate extreme dungeon farming. If those exploits are patched, it takes longer to clear, and fewer people can pull it off. Then there is no reason to punish people who are not using the exploits.

A 180 degree slope is not a slope, ha. That’s zero slope.

You seem to think the 30 instance lockout is intended to target people dungeon farming, but as you yourself admit, it does not do that in the slightest.

Perhaps the reason is because it’s not intended to break aoe farming?

Not just aoe, any mechanic that is overcome by pathing and terrain. In some cases it would be removing a pillar to jump up, in others it would be as simple as adding one character height to the ledge around a known point. IMO aoe farm to your minds content, but if you hop up or down a ledge to force unintended pathing the mobs should reset.

Nevermind.

I am sure you are right, and they clearly wanted to break those things, but oh, game design is so hard and they just couldn’t see the obvious solution.

Only a genius like yourself could tell them. Hell, you proved you are smarter than everyone else right in the topic line of this post, as you said “blue respond please” FORCING THEM to see your BRILLIANT, ORIGINAL IDEA THEY DEFINITELY DIDN’T ALREADY THINK OF AND USE BEFORE.

Carry on. I am in awe of your incredible intellect.

I don’t think I’m a genius. I am just presenting a solution to a complaint many have posted about.

No one thinks you’re a genius, you can’t even see sarcasm when it’s dripping right in front of you. There’s nothing to “fix” here. Get over it.

Not to mention Bliz is doing this for a host of other reasons… eg players fishing for rare mobs to make them NOT rare anymore

Yep, exactly.

I simply stated a solution to a problem, instead of just complaining without one. This is normal adult discussion, only children whine and complain without presenting solutions.

theres probably plenty of undocumented ways to do the stuff that simply aren’t as efficient as the ways in which people currently do the stuff
