Tepid: "Twins of the Sun Priestess" priest legendary

Some high stakes stuff here, guys.

One of the new general priest legendary powers in Shadowlands is called “Twins of the Sun Priestess” (https://www.wowhead.com/guide=10490/priest-legendary-powers-in-shadowlands). The only possible characters I could think of that this could refer to are Sol-Shaper Veoryx and Sol-Shaper Krashyx, two sibling high arakkoa (https://www.wowhead.com/quest=35259/sol-sisters).

Now, these are two ‘literal who’ characters, but I haven’t the faintest idea who else it could refer to. I don’t think Rukhmar is ever referred to as a ‘sun priestess’, but the terminology kind of checks out.

Any ideas?

I interpreted it as the caster and the target being the twins of one Sun Priestess. As in, the Sun Priestess is blessing two of her flock or whatever.

Oh my. That didn’t even cross my mind - this is probably a lot more likely.

Assuming that it’s referring to Rukhmar, it’s kind of odd to randomly hearken back to her. Of course, it could just be a fun flavourful thing, but perhaps we’re going to see Rukhmar in Ardenweald?

But the name is Twins of the Sun Priestess, not that the Sun Priestess is twins herself. Sun Priestess isn’t plural, so it’s only referring to one of them, so why look for a paring of two who are priests as well?

Another way to read it would be a Priestess of the “Twins of the Sun”.

I don’t agree, I have never heard of a God being referred to as a priest of their own religion. That’s… odd terminology.

True, however the arakkoa believed Rukhmar was the goddess of the sun, but since they actually saw her (compare with Elune, a moon goddess, whom the night elves have never actually seen), it could be loosely reasoned that they didn’t actually think she was the sun, but the main ‘worshipper’, or ‘priestess’ of the sun, to which she then taught the arakkoa. Sun priestess = Rukhmar, and the ‘twins’ are probably the player + whomever they cast it on.

It’s certainly not a neat theory, but I’m at a loss to what else it could be. Maybe just cool naming.

Well, no. Gods can be physical, Wild Gods and Old Gods are still gods even though they posses physical bodies, they still represent whatever they are Gods of. And the reason the arakkoa worshipped Rukhmar wasn’t because of the Sun, but because Rukhmar created the arakkoa. They worshipped Rukhmar, and her title of Sun Goddess was cause of her powers.

Plus Rukhmar was divine by nature, her soul had the Light in it.

I don’t think that Rhukmar had less worship or symbolism because she was seen.

I mean Re’Zan was seen too, and in him was the symbolism of the Light that was worshipped by the Zandalari.

one of my favorites…the high arrakoa from wod

I’m not disagreeing with what you’re saying, but I’m more focussed on attempting to interpret whatever the hell this legendary’s name could mean.

I made the comparison to Elune because she is explicitly a ‘moon’ deity similarly to Rukhmar as she is a ‘sun’ deity, for what it’s worth, not to comment on the validity of a god’s actual form.

They also certainly believed her to have a connection to the sun, as they believe her to be a sun goddess. There’s a bit of nuance to this kind of discussion; it’s not so rigid as what you’re making it out to be.

Of course she has a connection to the Sun, I didn’t dispute that. I said she’s worshipped cause she created the Arakkoa, not because she represents the Sun.

Her connection to the sun is besides the point of the reason arakkoa worship her. It’s not nuance, they worship Rukhmar cause she created them.

The arakkoa don’t worship the Sun, they worship Rukhmar, who also happens to be a Sun Goddess.

Well we do have a Sun deity on Azeroth, An’she. Plus it’s the Shadowlands, another planet could have had their own sun deity.

Come now. They most certainly do. Almost all their dialogue pertains to the sun in some way; if that does not imply some sort of reverence or worship of the sun then I don’t know what would.

I will admit, seeing some legendary artifacts from other planets would make it so the “Single Shadowlands for the universe” feels a lot more logical then just azerothian things appearing.
