Tencent ( a Chinese company) okay'd a necromancer champion in League of Legends, Necromancers in WoW please?

(Viego being released in League of Legends today)

If a massive triple A Chinese gaming company okays a necromancer class in the most popular esports platform in the world (League of Legends), then… i’m pretty sure that we here in America can culturally handle a Necromancer class in a triple A game without requirement of a theme’d environment like in Diablo, and without requirement of a big-daddy ego-check lore character like the Lich King for Death Knights, or “reality-check” spell animations or spell sounds.

Also speaking of requesting for fiji water to be sprinkled on a well-done steak, it seems like Blizzard fired and/or replaced their opera advisors when comparing these two soundtracks.

What the Noggenfogger does a LoL Necromancer have to do with WoW?

You realize China isn’t the reason we don’t have Necromancers right?

Nothing at all, bad post.

Must be a super watered down version of a necromancer, because if they did. The CCP going to make some people disappear.

Yorick has been in LOL for like ever.

In china hes a totally not knock off of the Breadmaster from the Tick.
Someone better at buns than I am needs to come up with spell names.

I don’t understand this thread at all. What does LoL have to do with WoW? Chinese censors had absolutely nothing to do with us not having playable necromancers.

They changed Yorick from what he was originally. His weapon has a Chinese symbol on it. I guess everybody forgot this drama from a year ago

Blizzard, along with many other gaming companies change their game very fast if china bans new words, different imagery they deem inappropriate for their citizens to see. They are the masters of wrong-think, coming to an America near you.

Nah, it’s always been a fake rule.

Who has to follow it and who doesn’t is up to the people in charge, the best sort of rules.

Legion made it so there will probably never be a new class.

Which is fine. We don’t need more imbalance in this game.

Ok what does this thread have to do with the price of tea in China let alone WoW?

I think the argument goes that Blizzard was avoiding certain imagery to appease Chinese government.

WOW is not a Triple A game. It’s triple pay.

Pay for the expansion.
Pay for the sub.
Pay for beta testing it.

**** Tencent, it’s a tentacle of the CCP.

And before those say “nuh uh it’s it’s company!” In China if you employ over 50 people you are required by law to have a board of CCP members involved in how your company is run.

Buddy they arent keeping us from anything. Is everyone sleeping on the fact they JUST released a Necromancer based zone??? Like, Maldraxxus exists buddy. Tencent doesnt care about it. Necromancers would just be a DK or Lock spec if anything. Warlocks and DKs share too much with the class thematically.

I never understood why they couldn’t just make a glyph that would turn Warlock demons into undead. That way people that want to be a “Necromancer” without having to play an Unholy DK can have that fantasy.

imo we could convert the Imp to a small Skeleton

Voidwalker into either those armored skeletons or the plague eruptor guys from Wrath.

Succubus could be either a banshee or a shade.

Felhound converts easily into the plague hounds in Tirisfal Glades.

Felguard can become a ghoul.

Your infernals and doom guards and such can become either abominations or Lord Marrowgar type guys.

I think we will see some type of Necromancer “class” at some point. People wanted it for so long and if Blizz was willing to give in to the people wanting High Elves they will for Necromancers too.

wow in china already has some different art assets (an example would be pools of blood tend to be black in china, at least that was the case in bfa) so I assume blizzard wouldn’t make decisions globally based on what might be problematic in china, and would just rely on their chinese partner to localize it to be permissible in china.

Developers want to homogenize things to streamline things though. Something like a class is not just an art asset, it’s much bigger. OP isn’t really crazy for suggesting it. Rainbow Six: Siege is a famous example of how Chinese censorship laws affected maps in recent time. A lot of game decisions are made with country age restrictions. On a broader thing, the whole cookies thing and GDPR made US sites use that for all users, not just EU ones.

That said, OP is probably wrong about necromancer class since it’s so redundant, and China most likely has nothing to do with it.

If Blizzard wanted to put a necromancer in WoW, they’d do it and just release it everywhere except China.

The idea that the CCCP is the reason Americans and Europeans don’t have a necromancer class in WoW is pretty far off the reservation.
