So yeah. Me and my wife are running two demon hunters, 56 and 60 respectively, and trying to get through old content and unlock allied races. We come across this quest and the last boss of this dungeon instance requires healing.
Only problem at this point is we cannot queue for specific dungeons in this expansion since it forces us to queue only for Shadowlands and nothing else.
A bit of an oversight for such content since it requires such a mechanic and is only 1 expansion previous.
Just grab the Heart of Azeroth, get the crucible of flame essence (the first one you get), put it in the major slot and you can heal the boss when needed. You can even pair it up with an azerite piece of Uldir that has the lazer matrix trait on it. If you didn’t get the HoA during BFA you can get it once you hit level 50 by doing a small quest chain.
I wouldn’t call it an oversight when Blizzard provided ways for non healing classes to heal the boss in the expansion itself. You can use the heart of Azeroth in non-shadowlands content.
Also iirc, that quest isn’t required to unlock Vulpera as you can get the achievement for completing Vol’dun’s storylines without it.
The only allied races that require dungeons to unlock them are
Dark Irons: Motherlode
Kul Tirans: Tol Dagor, Shrine of the Storm and Waycrest Manor
Mechagons: Operation Mechagon.
You’re right in that the vulpera unlock has no dungeon requirements, but also, all of the dungeon requirements were removed in a recent patch, so any quest that previously required them should now offer a skip option.
