Given that Templar Strikes was dramatically underperforming the auto-attack talent even while it was bugged, surely the bugfix being nerf means it’s going to get buffed.
Right? Right…?

Depends on your build.
Remember to factor in AA + skyfury damage as part of TS damage since csaa you loose on AA.
(Also 2nd attack on TS does more damage then FV)
Unfortunately that’s a non-factor. Iirc even while bugged, CSAA was in the realm of 12% ahead of Templar Strikes. A capstone level talent of difference, in effect. Someone can quote me if I’m mistaken, but I -think- at one point around launch it was calculated to be as much of a 20% gap.
It’s more than just the sheer damage on hit – CSAA interacts with Shake the Heavens, for example. The damage lost from the windfury proc is below de minimis.
Literally gut or remove csaa. So tired of these auto battler noob talents doing more throughput.
It is terribly strange to me that the afk/auto-attack talent is so overwhelmingly more powerful than the more active variant.
I know a lot of people are quite fond of it, but I’ve never really understood why. Is it just the sort of “this is strong, so I like it” being construed as being fun? I found the downtime which comes with is so unfun and unseemly. Feels like if you want a spec with that much downtime, Classic/TBC Ret is waiting for you.
I dont mind it existing as people should be able to spec into a lower apm version of the spec if they want. But templar actually gives the spec a priority order checklist rotation that requires some thought. It should be the higher dps option rewarding optimal play.
Is this tests with just csaa or tests with cssa combined with art of war in an aoe environment.
Atm there is a bug that has the proc chance increase via having a seperate proc table per enemy hit rather then per cast.
Theres no downtime when u play it right and have some haste. Im always pressing something
The implication being,
Having gear.
I have 16% haste at ilvl 618, and i have done the best i can to get as much haste as possible. The ritation is ‘smooth enough’ for me with some drops of apm in singke target or against mobs/bosses with attack speed debuffs.
However-
How does one get gear? Delves, mythic+ raid- all at the whims of RNGesus. How do you expect freshly leveled ret to get gear when they have say 6% haste? Who will invite them to groups? Do you expect people to just charity work it?
More importantly this whole change was done because protection paladins had an issues with builders when undergeared and under haste- thats why they did the 10% gcd reduction on builders (for prot only) and removed the haste talents.
The problem has simply shifted spec.
the idfference between csaa and ts is between 3-5% at any given time. while yes csaa interacts with things. due to shake the heavens icd it doesnt really effect much. idk who or how you got these numebrs but its not that much of a stark difference
that being said, if you wanna play ts then play ts.
i used to play ts and regular cs all the time back in dragonflight, i dont in tww because radiant glory exists and how is the new filler ability.
the downtime that people claim to have with csaa is exaggerated. if you play correctly then you’ll have one moment of downtime per boss encounter. most ret players dont play correctly thus why they like ts cause ts fills in the blanks.
Wait, what???
TS has sheer MASSIVE damage. I’ve gotten upward of 750k with Templar Slash alone.
And TS interacts with 10 ret Talents, ten.
Yeah, no. I don’t believe this.
Ive said it before. A talent that removes a button shouldnt be more powerful than pressing the skill. Csaa exists for those who dont want to play then put a aa speed and damage penalty when using csaa.
I am tired of csaa, radiant glory and other talents
