Tempest Barrier’s (Conduit) absorb value reduced by 50% in PvP combat

Fire is seeing some nerfs in Rated PvP combat in the next weekly update.

Im curious if this conduit nerf will also be affecting Frost and Arcane (Specs that are performing much worse than fire in PvP currently)

The other 2 specs shouldn’t suffer the consequences of Blizzard not ever being able to tune fire properly in PvP.

they did the same with Triune Ward and it was applied for all 3 specs

fire has its intants and don’t need the survavility as much as arcane and frost need it because those specs have to hardcast and fish procs even in their burst, by the time you have clearcasting/fof you already have been hit a lot

Its a nerf for arcane too. Its really sad, arcane feels much worse in pvp this patch. They just completely ignore the spec.

Well, not to be the devil’s advocate, but many other absorb conduits are nerfed by 50% as well in PVP, even the general Endurance conduit Condensed Anima Sphere.

What I see as a result is that more people would just play Cryo Freeze or 3 Potency / 2 Finesse / 1 Endurance builds.

Blizzard’s brilliant minds are nerfing Frost and Arcane because fire is apparently too good. I don’t understand this dumb logic.

I’m kinda sick of getting nerfed every patch for a “just in case”. At this point, they should just let us all know if they want us to stop playing a mage in PvP.

Aren’t they aware that this extra shield barely gives us enough health to survive those incredibly sticky melees? This applies to duels, RBG, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, Random bgs, epic bgs.

Frost gets nerfed because of mythic dungeons at the beginning of the season, and now it gets nerfed again because fire is overperforming. So great -_-

And really, fire isn’t all that great either. It’s only good in the arena because it’s really underwhelming everywhere else.

That’s my main issue. Fire mage is balanced completely around 3v3 arena. Frost and Arcane aren’t balanced, and Blizzard should honestly be ashamed of the state of both of them. Arcane is probably the worst spec in Shadowlands. You have 1 cheese ability, Arcanosphere, which is stopped by any micro CC in the game. Apart from that, you have 1 school so if you get kicked its gg. Even if you get to free cast, the damage is very underwhelming. The only time I ever land a kill on something as arcane is when they are below 35% because of the execute legendary. The design is pathetic. At this point I’m just hoping for a major rework of the specs next expansion, and giving up mage for the rest of Shadowlands. (Already only playing boomkin anyway)

Oh yeah, let’s not forget how awful the double legendary and set bonus effects are for arcane (essentially useless). Small 10% damage buff on your Touch of the Magi target, but you have to be able to cast to take advantage of that window anyway. The covenant legendaries are all really bad for arcane.

Venthyr arcane with harmony/venthyr legendary is going to be the meta for pvp. I’m calling it.

Kyrian burst is kinda cool I guess. If we somehow get it off. Frostbolt spam as necrolord/slick ice is more damage and much easier though. I’m glad Frost is seeing some love now, Arcane next pls.

The issue with Kyrian for mages, Baye, is that they won’t have a second legendary. The Kyrian legendary is complete trash.

Why? It was changed, now it is a 25% damage copy to both main target and secondary targets, so is quite a decent damage boost in any situation.

What makes Kyrian Mages not viable in rated PVP with any healers is that Radiant Spark is dispellable, so gets almost insta-dispelled the moment you use it and provides little to no value because of that. I suggested to change that in Blizzard’s tier set post, maybe they will at least consider that.

Yeah but… With Necrolord, you do so much more with Deathborne. And the legendary improves Deathborne. So, that’s why I think the Kyrian legendary is terrible for mages.

When I look at that legendary, I don’t get excited at all. I just ask myself, “What’s the point of that?” lol

If it made it undispellable, it would actually be very good.

They probably are nerfing that barrier because of the Tri Shield leg that people have. Which is silly considering that not every mage has that leg lmao I swear they really want to hate on magic based classes.

This Frost receive any buffs I’m not aware of?

Considering the PTR had a “bug” where Radiant Spark was not dispellable for a time and they “fixed” it before it went live, I highly doubt it.

Blizzard can change their mind on their past decisions, like they did with Shimmer removal or Icy Propulsion nerf.
