The tempered potion works by giving you the secondary stat effects of the tempered flasks you are not currently using.
So for instance, if you are using the haste tempered flask, then the tempered potion will give you mastery, vers, and crit (but not haste), for 30 seconds.
However, the flask of alchemical chaos is not a tempered flask. This means that if you use a tempered potion while under the effect of the flask of alchemical chaos, then the tempered flask will give you ALL FOUR effects!

I miss the basic flasks. I get these are more interesting and flavorful, but it also means I have to go simming every flask instead of just grabbing the strength flask.

It doesnt happen enough times to really worry about it. Sounds like a good perk but still.

To constantly retain the buffs is a very expensive endeavor on this front.

You won’t be able to constantly retain them because the tempered potion has a 5 minute cooldown. It does mean, however, every 5 minutes you can get 3700~ of each secondary stat, which makes it good.

this is not remotely “game breaking”

Yep, pretty sure this is intended.

The people, yes… but not Blizzard, they’ll just hotfix the pot to only give the other stats depending on what the flask is giving at the time of activation.
I think so as well, but I do not think most people know about it.

On what basis? This interaction is very much intended.
Otherwise they would’ve cracked down hard on it during the race to world first for Nerub’ar Palace.
The trade off is that outside of the pots duration, you are getting a random stat every 30 seconds at some cost of 2 (which is also random).

This has been known since alchemy consumables were finalized in the beta. It’s well known, intended and generally the most viable consumable mix to use in PVE.

Main reasons to use Chaos:
Bigger bonus from combat potions.
If your stats are relatively similar in value and don’t mind the RNG nature of the buffs rotating.
Main reasons not to use Chaos:
If you aren’t using combat potions.
If you’re using a flask for something you want a consistent buff for (haste for certain breakpoints for classes, vers for a little extra defense in M+)
If one stat is head and shoulders above the others that it would be a loss for the RNG effect to not be on it.

it’s a known thing if you look at any class guide. this is the main reason most classes like alchemical chaos honestly if you look at class guides. It is funny seeing everyone run it though and not use tempered potions which is the selling point of using the flask though.

This isn’t how it is supposed to work?
I just assumed that was how it was supposed to work since otherwise the inconsistency of Alchemical Chaos would never be worth the downside of only giving a couple hundred extra raw stats over the tempered flasks.

Yeah I don’t think it’s “obvious” that that’s the effect. Reading the tooltips made me wonder what would happen, and I had to test it for myself.
Alchemical chaos isn’t a tempered flask so looks like it’s working as intended
