Tell me with 100% honesty why we even had a war in BFA

And why we are still even fighting each other.

That is my Blood Elf paladin with Tyrande doing the Suramar quest chain yet again.

Last week I saved Jaina from Torghast for the fourth time.

And I am sure there are many, many other occurrences of both factions helping each other and not just to kill the big bad dude. Like how Blizzard made an entire cinematic of everyone banding together to try and stop Sylvannas, which happened 5 minutes after we were just at war killing each other.

It’s stupid at this point, if you want to kill each other go into WM, BG’s or arena, that’s the exact reason those were made. I run around and see someone who needs help, but half the time I cannot do anything, wrong faction. We are supposed to be helping the Shadowlands together, not one of four covenants while killing each other and putting more souls into The Maw, it’s counter productive.

The… whole point of BFA was setting up Shadowlands. One of its twist was that that whole war served no purpose beyond funneling souls to the jailer.

It was more of a cold war than anything. A poor story had a 2nd horde Civil War in the last 5 years. Alliance randomly killed a king but even that wasn’t against the horde army.

There wasn’t anything “cold” about Sylvanas torching Teldrassil :p.

The plan was to capture Rastakhan and use him as leverage to keep the Zandalari from joining the Horde. It went wrong because Anduin’s an idiot and didn’t expect Rastakhan to refuse to be taken alive.

And that’s just terrible writing. We’ve been helping each other for longer than I care to remember.

But yeah mechanically its dumb we can’t queue cross-faction.

Can’t say i disagree.

Because this game needed it at the time.

The argent tourny raid where we face the other faction’s champions was the last time i felt the faction war. I did like pvp island expeditions though

Faction war is a “key” part of wow.

I wouldn’t lie to you about war

You mean during release patch where they planned to have the first big bad dude try and wipe out all life on Azeroth and both factions needed to kill the same enemy to save the planet?

They should have really made this a permanent PVP option and expanded on it. I would for sure love to queue for these types of maps, like a DoTA style map, or an Overwatch type push cart map or something.

It’s well overdue to have more PVP maps and mode than what we have.

They had one planned for MoP, but it got canned.

Edit: This one.

That ended up being Ashran, and we know how that ended.

Oh Assran ends very quickly for me, like about 10 seconds after the loading screen I am back in Org for some reason, must be the whole ‘This map is a**’ bug

Because Blizzard’s new writing team doesn’t understand the basis of the game. They see “faction conflict” and think that means a full-on war.

Much like lots of posters on General Discussion think the same.

Both groups are incorrect. The faction conflict is a Cold War setting. Not an actual, “hot” war. And it was foolish to try and turn it into a hot war, because neither side can win as it would upset half their playerbase. So nobody wins, and everyone is unhappy.

Because Sylvanas needed a setting to stage a massacre in prep for Shadowlands.
Because Blizz is obsessed with putting the WAR in WARcraft!!!
And because we have to make sure that the kids who have grown up playing this game remember that efforts at peace are always worthless.

That doesn’t make up for what the Horde did. I mean I saved freaking Thrall and I was hoping I would have a chance to yeet him off an edge in the Maw.

We are at war because one faction decided they wanted to follow a psychopath who started a global war so she could feed the souls of the dead to the Jailer. Then said faction followed her as she lead them into invading and slaughtering the NEs.

Sorry but saving Jania a couple of times doesn’t change what the Horde did. Not by a long shot…

The last time we helped each other was Eternal Palace.
The last time before that was Broken Shore.
And the last time before that was Throne of Thunder.

It doesn’t happen very often.

Anduin didn’t expect or not expect anything.

The writers needed Anduin to behave a certain way to advance the story, so they made Anduin behave a certain way to advance the story.
