Tech Question

Hi all, quick question.

I got a set of two 16gb of DDR4 recently. I installed one into my fiancé’s computer.

However now the computer is randomly freezing when WoW is active.

Is it possible the RAM is moving at too high of a speed?

The Motherboard is a MS-7998 and the new 16gb of RAM is at 3600mhz.

You should try the technical support forums:

Thank you, I’ve moved it there now.

If it’s only WoW, then most likely a WoW issue (I’m stating the obvious)

There is also a Hardware section over here in addition to the Tech Support area…

Good luck

I think it might be WoW specific after recent testing. It seems fine until I just mouse over to the second monitor, and then it freezes

Try your setup with only one monitor. Just a shot in the dark.

If you have the other RAM installed along with that 16GB stick, that could be causing the problem. Mismatched RAM can cause all sorts of strange issues.

I’ll try that momentarily.

Yeah, there are two 8GB sticks in there from before, plus the 16gb one at 3600mhz. So that COULD be a thing.

UPDATE:

It may not have been the RAM. Because removing the new RAM had it doing the same thing. Despite it previously working fine on the dual monitor setup.

I remembered when I was in the PC, I brushed out a LOT of dust from the fans and processor with a Keyboard brush. So i was thinking maybe a clump of dust lobbed into the wrong spot.

But I also remembered there was a JUMBO fan on the side of the tower case that was unplugged and I’d plugged it in.

But once I unplugged that one fan its working good as of now, so far anyhow
