So for DF, i updated my potato from win 7 to win 10 because it was required (Win7 worked fine for me).
After upgrading to win 10, I was having wifi issues. It would constantly cut out on me and cause game issues. Someone mentioned Win 10 didnt play well with integrated wifi and to use cable. So i did so.
Fast forward to tomorrow and the potato’s ram is dying and my new pc gets delivered. Im pretty sure it’s also integrated wifi on the board, but has win 11.
My question. Did Win 11 fix this issue? I would love to pull down the 25 ft of cable running from my modem to the pc.
Or, if after testing it Out am still getting issues, is there a usb or other wifi adapter better suited?
Be sure that the Wi-Fi driver that your card is using is up to date. A long time ago I was having wireless issues that tied back to my firmware not being updated correctly along with the OS. After I got that sorted, no more problem.

I’ve never had wifi issues with integrated wifi on either Win 10 or Win 11 (my previous gaming laptop up until last year was Win 10, my current one is Win 11). I suspect there was more going on with your “potato” - possibly drivers out of date, like the post above mine suggested, or network card experiencing hardware failure.

I bought the pc in 2011.
Ancient potato.
This makes me feel better. I hate having this cord hanging around.
Support for older hardware does tend to drop as time goes on and it gets superseded, that being said sometimes components just wear out and don’t work like they used to.
Wi-Fi is getting better, but wired will almost always be faster/more reliable, as there is less potential for interference in the cable vs the airwaves
I had an issue a few weeks ago where my PC (wireless) was getting like 7-8 down every so often while my laptop, work laptop, phone, Wife’s laptop would get the expected 45-50 down all the time. All windows devices on Windows 11.
I ended up buying an external USB wifi adapter for like $19 off Amazon and I’ve consistently gotten 45-50 down.
