TC Layer 1 review

To begin I’m a 186 BrM monk with double dps trinkets as I haven’t got tank trinkets worth keeping yet and marginally itemized gear (too much haste, why does everything have haste?) I begun with +30 versa food, a Stamina flask, embalmer’s oil, desolate armor kit and a legion augment rune lol. Wings were Soulforge, Upper Reaches, Soulforge in that order.

I started with a bad anima power and most along the way were pretty terrible choices. On floor 6 I finally got corrosive dosage and by floor 9 I had 3 stacks which definitely helped. I never got a single stamina power until floor 8. I knew the entire run was to build for killing the last boss and kept that in mind the whole time. By the end I had 5 stack way of the fae Anima plus the one that makes it tick every 2 seconds for 10 seconds, 5 stacks of the Nizauo extender and 3 stacks of additional Celestials, 4 stacks of healing orbs on first hit, instant ToD cd, 5 stacks of Corrosive Dosage, 30 second cd reduction across the board, 15 second leg sweep, full health on drop to 20%, 30% stat boost with no jump, 2 talents in every row and 92k health. I only got one chance at leech in the 17th floor and turned it down to make ToD instant reset. Everything was needed for last boss. I had 29% haste, 37% crit, 62% mastery and 9% versatility for my last pull.

I noticed all the mobs cast a haste buff on pull that makes them very nasty. I had no problems until floor 16 where Lord of the Locks nearly 2 shot me thankfully I had the cd reductions and pushed through. Final boss was the big guy that puts up quakes and infernos and had 2.9m health. I killed the last boss in 37 seconds. 71% of damage was corrosive dosage, 15% ToD (I spammed it once it procced until he died) 8% fae line and the rest was a mixture. I did proc the 20% save and almost died twice but managed to pull it off. I never died once the entire run.

Maybe I got lucky but I really feel TC can be challenging to an extent I did not feel overwhelmed like I have read about here. The run took 1 hour 32 minutes and I full cleared the entire building, every mob, phylactery, soul and chest. Looking forward to layer 8.

difficulty between layers isn’t that big. You just get floor debuffs from higher layers and number going up a bit. 186 might te a bit too low.

I won’t be 186 long. Getting ready to push keys.

Try it as a healer. It’s significantly easier as healer and mistweaver monks can do decent damage so it’s a win/win scenario.

I did layers 1 to 7 solo as restoration druid (started at 192 ilvl and used feral affinity) and honestly except for 1 bad run on 7 due to unlucky anima powers (i got to the last boss with like 50k hp which made me too weak to withstand the damage) it was pretty easy. Long and boring, yeah, but not hard, just annoying.
I got lazy and went layer 8 with a random group, but considering how easy 7 was, I’m sure 8 wasn’t going be much different.

I’m planning to run the rest with my son. He is a Rdruid. We usually do everything together But I was up late last night and said screw it let me give it a shot. Glad I did.

I was at 182 or 184 when I solo cleared TC 8. It’s doable, you just need to know what you’re doing.

You never actually notice the difficulty until layers 7-8. Also torments and enemy overwhelming power buff starts to happen at layers 3+. Other than than that, its just tedium.

me(dps) and a tank did it no problem and we really had no problems with crap animas just long and boring.

One thing it is not to me is boring.

In my opinion Torghast has little to do with gear. It’s all about Anima powers. Gear only provides a slight edge. I had no problem at all clearing layer 5 the first week it was out at 160 ilvl with a pc that ran it at 5fps. Now that I have my new rig I have 0 issues. I would have went higher but I’m very limited on time. I used to play competitively PvE and PvP and held top parses etc in MoP and WoD but have different priorities today. I went 1950 as BrM in 3s post nerf in WoD lol.
