I am considering starting a shaman on a TBC server in prep for the eventual WoTLK servers but I do have a question. What is the leveling community like at the moment? I don’t wanna boost through leveling and want to really enjoy the experience, but I also want to get into groups for leveling dungeons and group quests.
Will that be possible or is pretty much everyone mage/hunter boosting to max level?
If you are leveling 1-70 you will have a rough time depending on what server type (pve/pvp). If you are paid boosting to 58 it probably won’t be as bad as finding groups on non-dead server/factions can still happen since there are Daily Normal Dungeons.
Visit Ironforge.pro and realize Blizzard is poop, and things are subject to change, and you will be on the hook financially when they fail to show up at the office more than 2 days per week.
I have 4 characters around lv 50. Started them when classic first released. Real slow leveler here. Going to wait for the Wotlkc pre patch and what not.
If they go as they have before, and use the last patch of the expansion. Riding skills go way down in price. Crafting to Woltk skill level become far easier. Then you have lfd and the billions of death knights that will be part of your group(s). But queues wil be short to get thru tbcc.
Just more friendly all the way around. To wait. Imo.
1-50you won’t really see anyone unless you’re in Gadget, there you’ll see people going to CoT. When you hit the high level areas in Azeroth you’ll see more and more people til finally you go to Outland where you’ll see many many people.
Waiting is not a bad idea as others said. If you want to level now, you could join one of the mega servers (look at that ironforge.pro link) and find a leveling guild. That will help you get dungeon groups and stuff. Note that someone was posting here from Benediction ally a few weeks ago (the largest server) and he couldn’t find the community he wanted no matter how much he tried, so your mileage may vary. I’ve heard the servers labeled PVE have a better leveling community, but you need a big enough population where there are actually low-level players around.
At this point in the game, there are very few players that are leveling the old fashioned way. And out of those few players, even less are interesting in grouping. Dungeons (outside of the ones that are close to capital cities) are a massive waste of time and not worth doing at all. You’re better off either buying the 58 boost, getting mage boosted to 58, or just solo leveling in Azeroth til 58, then you can go into outlands and do dungeons and group quests.
Man, tbh I’m not sure people posting here have leveled a character recently.
I am currently lvling a warlock alt and have had no trouble find dungeon groups for anything ive wanted to run. Deadmines, stocks, SM, ZF, ST. No issue. And I’m playing a dps.
Met a fair number of people in every zone I’ve quested in except swamp of sorrows, because only wierdos like me quest there. Had no trouble grouping for quests here and there.
This is all on Pagle, one of the highest pop servers for alliance. So do consider the server when making a new character.
Contrary to the what the boosties in this thread are saying, the lvling experience right now, from what I am seeing, is pretty great. Good time to lvl an alt.
Again, this is from my personal experience lvling a character right now.
Have fun out there and ignore the doom and gloomers :).
IronForge.Pro only list players who log their raids and also from arena statistics. It doesnt tell you how many actual players are on a server. But it will give you a good indication of the population that raids and does arena.
In this time, when players are raid logging pre phase 4 when raid bosses don’t give badges and we know after sunwell we probably won’t have bis when wrath drops and that is ok. During such times between raids, the number of players leveling a wrath main is apparent on the high pop servers. Of the players getting boosted or leveling allmost all of them are humans and space goats, I don’t know why so many humans and space goats are the ones getting carried.
As for the leveling experience, I wouldn’t recommend without rested exp.
My advice is to download a healer addon or learn how to heal on the side. You don’t need to be specced for it, just build a side set with int for a huge mana pool and you can play the healer as enhance or elemental. It will definitely get you more groups all the way to 60.
Classic had its day. Most people are in outlands now. If you level the old fashioned way you will mostly be soloing and not see many dungeon groups until outlands. This isn’t really a bad thing though, given all the changes crusade made to the old world. You’ll have no problem soloing the whole way up.
I do suggest you get it out of the way now though so you can already be 70 for wrath. You can also have your netherwing dragon done, a luxury future death knights don’t have.
