TBC vs. WotLK? 🔫

TBC and WotLK are generally regarded as the “best” expansions. They are also the only two to come out while WoW was still growing. Which one was better?

I pick TBC. I quit Wrath in Beta, after seeing the font on the damage numbers. (It looked bad.)

Im going TBC because I’m still salty about my lack of promised dance studio

LOL to quit a game because of the font of the damage being displayed. /shrug

I cast my vote to Wrath. In terms of engaging game play, story, art and sense of community I feel Wrath was the best expansion I’ve experienced since 2006.

By who? WotLK, I can agree with but if I had to list all the expansions in order that I liked them, TBC would be at the bottom just above WoD.

I think wrath was better because it was a lot more accessible to the general public while still keeping the rpg elements of old. Tbc was very “raid or die” and the zones were unimaginative.

Plus everyone I knew in real life played wow in wrath, now most of them have quit.

Outland can burn in the fel fires! Gimme Northrend day in and day out

TBC was rubbish.

Only half the classes were viable and attunements ruined endgame for 90% of the playerbase.

WOTLK fixed both these glaring issues which is why it deservedly gets the #1 expansion spot.

This. Some classes got changed or overturned. I remember in vanilla, paladins were free HKs in battlegrounds. Once 2.0 hit, Ret could 2v1 geared people and win.

WoTLK was my favorite of the two. Dungeon finder was a game changer for me.

TBC because Holy Priests were not accepted in WotLK. Discipline or no invite and I despise the Discipline spec.

BC I was still an adventurer, in WotLK I became a hero of the Alliance/Horde.

BC introduced the my favorite mount in the game, the Netherdrakes.

WotLK was also the beginning of reusing and removing old content.

Additionally, their butchering of Anub’arak made me quit (yes I am that petty).

WotLk by far. BC was toxic. BC reduced the difficulty of raiding just enough for all those losers that couldn’t get a guild invite to a 40 man raid team and could barely hang in ZG or AQ10 now thought they were hardcore in their 3/4 TK 5/6 SSC progress.

But what happens when WotLk starts increasing accessibility for everyone with LFG? These same people that needed Blizzard’s pity to remove attunement in BT start crying about welfare gear and casuals… as if they didn’t benefit from the casualization of raiding in BC.

Tough to pick one. I started playing in BC, but Wrath was the first expansion where I felt like I fully knew what I was doing. Wrath hype was just insane. I’d say they are tied for my favorites for different reasons.

tbc was a lot harder than vanilla. the first tier was also a lot harder than wotlks first tier.

Yea, sure. Cept everyone still benefited from the first welfare epics and the removement of attunement (i.e. casualization).

I guess but tbc had the most attunments, karazhan, ssc, tk, mt hyjal, bt whereas wotlk had none

Wrath was better than BC in every single way.

It’s not even close.

Burning Crusade’s story was incoherent. I liked Wrath much better.

Plus Mammoths and Frost Wyrms!

WoTLK because I absolutely hated the way Outland looked (except for Nagrand).

WotLK had none because all these supposed “hardcore” BC raiders were stuck in 3/4 TK and 5/6 SSC and cried so Blizzard removed it. Then they cried foul when WotLK had none whatsoever. The hypocritical nature of BC raiders was so ridiculous that I consider BC the worst expansion in WoW.
